No?

Old. And vastly inferior.

Prius is an outdated POS compared to the Volt.

Does anyone else remember who won the 2008 Green Car of the Year? It wasn't a Prius.

Let's not forget that the Prius came out in 1997. It is pretty safe to say that some technology from 1997 is outdated.

anyway why would you buy a Prius when you can buy a Cobalt and have $10k left over? Or why would you buy a new Cobalt when you can buy a used Civic? Or why would you buy a used Civic when you can buy ...

Point is, there are always cheaper cars that you can buy
Hear ye! Hear ye! The word shitbox - I mean Cobalt is hereby stricken from the history books. You will now reference the word Cruze......

How to put it kindly ... the two biggest selling points for the Cobalt was that it was better than the Cavalier it replaced, and it was better than the Aveo. However, being better than either of those cars isn't the most ambitious of goals.

Exactly. After he drove one, Stracke said "Look at this car, it's horrible. How did this get through so many people?" .

I just got the new Motor Trend mag and they actually give the Volt high praise! Pretty amazing for them. They are impressed with the engineering, the way it drives, even the way it handles for what it is. I figure it must be an impressive car if they write that much good about it! Good for GM!

To everyone reading this thread...do yourself a favor. When dealers get these, drive the Prius and then go drive a Volt. I did that back to back today at Chevy dealer training in NYC. Simply, Prius is to Volt like Cobalt is to Cadillac CTS. The Volt is in a completely different league.

Not just technically, but it drives better, handles better, and has a higher quality "feel". The dashboard and instrumentation reminds me of Apple products. Well thought out, entertaining, informative and practical. The Prius interface reminded me of the Atari I had as a kid. Great product when it came out, but horribly dated now. The Prius completely underwhelmed me. The engine vibrated horribly on acceleration and the body roll in turns was pronounced. Just not fun to drive at all.

In fact, it was the worst hybrid I have ever driven. A complete shitbox when compared to any other hybrid from any other manufacturer. I have TOTAL respect for Toyota's PR department on this one. The fact they sold these in such numbers proves they know how to sell an idea to the masses and the American public was ready to swallow everything they said on reputation alone.

Based on my short drive, the Prius was just plain dated and the market has left it. A true innovation when it came out for sure, but not anymore. Anyone who drives both and gives the Volt a fair shake can't possibly disagree. Car and Driver says "GM nailed it" and I couldn't agree more.

This is very interesting...quite an endorsement!

I still don't get it. And though I do love my car...I've TRIED to get it. The competitors at the time were not significantly better...in any way. It's reliable, and.....well, this isn't the place to defend it...basically - I think it's caught way too much flack unnecessarily.

This is good to hear!! Thanks!

Hopefully that "Cadillac" feel will justify the higher premium to some buyers, and impress the heck out of those who can't justify it.

Well, for me, used 2007 MY Cobalt's (and G5's) were competing against used 2004-2005 Grand Ams ... you can see which one won.
