Your friend needs to go and review the lineups of all four brands and ask himself or herself that question again. Exactly how does a high-performance RWD sports coupe fit in with a brand that sells trucks, SUVs, and crossovers?

The firebird is gone and it's not coming back. Sucks, but that's just the way it is. GM has thankfully started to learn their lesson when it comes to rebadging.

There is rumor at the buick camp for a Grand National. By looking at the Regal and La cross, I pray it doesn't come out of that body line. It will be turbo powered as well. So I think it will be a 3.9L turbo.
GM will be pushing turbo power due to gov't GREEN regulations on fuel economy.

3.9L? It'll most likely be a 3.0L or 3.6L.

The 3900 has either ended production or will end very soon.

A GMC Trans Am (Firebird) is very close to having a Ford Camaro. Pontiac is what made the Firebird and ripping out its history and planting it in GMC would just be a slap in the face to said history.

Something that would be smart for GM is like in 5 years or so come out with a "Special Edition" Pontiac Trans Am (Firebird). Essentially of course just a Camaro with a few upgrades or differences and of course the Pontiac name plate. Only sell like 50,000 of these or so then wait X years, I see that being a very hot item and very collectible.

Not only no but Hell no! I can see it now,chrome grille with big,ugly red letters on it and a perverted version of a bird on the hood. Keep Pontiac pure.

Pontiac hasn't been pure for quite some time now, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

What about a new sub brand of GMC: GM-R (retro). They could be high end remakes of old hot rods that were badged under dead brands. GM-R Firebird 3.6L TT, 442, GTO (retro), etc.

Thats what pontiac should have also offered in the solstice....

Anyways whats the big deal if GM did bring back some vehicles back under their own old brands? They still own them, correct? There are some vehicles out there that if properly returned/redesigned could generate some good revenue for the general. 442 under the buick emblem... But still they have the wildcat and GNX and skylark names and herritage to pull from. Even the old buick specials were cool.

To be completely honest, Buick and GMC could go. Buick's line merged in with chevy and GMC's are already chevys.....
