Kinda like a story similar that happened at the local Ford Dealership. A friend of mine ordered a Mustang GT and when it came in they called him. I went with him, basically gave him a ride to pick up his car.
He went through all the paperwork, wrote a check and we waited for the car to be brought up front. The saleman said that it would be a few minutes becuase they had taken it to have it filled up with gas. 45 minutes later we are like WTF is taking soooo long. The saleman says that they are checking something on the car and to go get lunch and come back. Seemed reasonable so we take off to get lunch. On the way to lunch we see police, ambulances etc....not thinking much of it until we got close. I pointed and told my buddy that the mangled car looked like the one he just bought. Sure enough it was. Evidentially someone lost some transmission fluid, the guy filling up the car decided to step on it to see what she would do, hit the tranny fluid and then hit the guard rails on both sides. There was not a straight place on the car. Of course we didn't go to lunch and returned to the dealer. We found the salesman and asked to see the car, just to make sure. We didn't tell him what we saw. He came up with some crazy story that we could not go back to the service area because of insurance reasons, yeah right. My friend then said that he decided not to buy the car and wanted his money back. They declined. Finally he raised enough stink that he wanted to see the Owner that the salesman agreed. Probably 10 minutes has elapsed. When we get to see the owner he explains that he wants his money back and of course he refused, we then asked him to take a ride. The owner refused, then my friend asked for the car to be delivered immediately. He tried to come up with a story. My friend then explained what had happened and that we knew that they had just wrecked this brand new car when they took it to fill it up for gas. My friend grabbed his cell phone dialed someone and told them to send a news for a breaking story, acted like he hung up the phone and called what he acted like was his dad and told him to get an attorney and come quickly to the dealership, smaller town. After hearing these supposed phone calls the owner finally came clean and stated that he would get him another car, by this time my friend is not having it and just wants his money back. They tried for about 30 minutes to convince him to accept a new car and a new deal, they actually lowered the price 3000.00, but he didn't take it. Reluctantly they gave him his check back, when he got it he told the owner, salesmanager and salesman that if they had just been honest up front everything would have been ok but that he would never step foot inside that business again. To make matters worse my friend got with the local paper and ran a story that coincided with the accident story about this dealership and what they tried to do. It took a couple of years but the dealership finally closed because of the bad press.
