True - it probably wouldn't have sold enough to be profitable by any degree.

Unless it sells 100,000 units, GM can't put it out at a time when they are begging for federal money.

The G8 ST = dead.

Next up for the ax: the G8? It is averaging 1,500 sales a month.

Hopefully the Camaro can last until 2012-13. If sales tank after the first wave of sales, that would be bad news. I mean, the Camaro is not really GM's future anyway. Green, fuel efficient cars are (Chevy Volt, anyone?). That is what federal lawmakers want to see out of GM now that federal money is being funneled to the struggling company.

Get your V8 muscles car now, while you still can...

And this thing might've sold 20 units every month. Wrong brand, wrong engines, wrong marketing.

This isn't a bad idea. Does anyone remember the SSR? If GM kills platforms that don't have a history of big sales, it will represent good politicking with the government.

Little do you know, Nancy Pelosi is a closet G8 ST enthusiast. This was her plans of a fusion reactor powered ST, it should be mentioned that it is powered by all the hot air she produces and, naturally, produces no emissions.

I think this Pelosi is more likely to make production.

We did have a Ty, it was called a TrailBlazer SS. Problem is there will be no mid-size SUV from GM after '09. The Envoy,TB and Rainier are going out of production replaced by the Acadia, Traverse and Enclave. The lightning hasn't been produced since '04 and I think the Harley F-150's don't have an S/C anymore. I think it's only a matter of time before the Colorado gets the axe as well as the Tahoe. I would be nice to see a SIDI V6 in a colorado though.

I liked the G8 ST and might have bought a used one in a couple years, but it was a good move by GM. Wonder if it may come out in a year or two as a Chevy ElCamino. It may have been cancelled as a way to downsize Pontiac. I kinda think that G8 production may shift to oshawa, but it would be rebaged a chevy to replace the Impala. They might also build the statesman as a caprice. Oshawa is a flex plant and the G8 shares assembly methods with the Camaro.

They should cancel the Camaro then too. The original estimates were 80-100k a year.

They should try and sell the car everywhere. Bottom line is a 100K units/year car is not going to keep the lights on. They need to sell huge volume and not just one or two models.
