EN cable from router has an open circuit in the wire or at the plugs, or is not the same cable plugged into the router.
The only varible from your brothers room to yours is the physical cable and plugs. Get another ethernet cable or when you can a wireless router and 360 wireless adaptor. 90% probability. Cisco Certified Network Engineer |

You would test end to end with a multimeter. It won't reach upstairs to your end, and downstairs to the router end.
They make tools for this type of testing, but it's not worth buying them for one time, they're not cheap. Monoprice.com is geek cable headquarters, if you need a new one. Or steal your brothers, with a coupler, or share your brothers with a switch. Cheapest, best fix - Run a new cable Best, not so cheap fix, the wireless scenario. |
