oh yes. and when the GenV engines come out, the earth will stop it's rotation and all mustangs will explode because it is that much more awesome!

You need to know the context, for the past few months we have had a boat load of mustang enthusiats say wait untill 2011, when the 5.0 return. Search "syr74" for an example, that was all he could talk about. But you are correct the 2010 Camaro will make mence meat of the 2010 Mustang.

Given the recent problems with the Camaro, this thread is here just to try and make people feel better. Who cares if the Camaro can beat the Mustang? I can name a ton of cars that can beat both. Both cars are good in their own right.

However, neither car is comparable right now as neither car is out. If you MUST compare the two, let's see how they both perform in the real world than on paper.

Ummm...thanks for the irrelevant comment? Seriously, that had nothing to do with Ford's proposed 5.0 or even the LS3. Snorkels and watermelon are hilarious at throwing trees; see, I can do it too with a similar effect.

Where in my comments did I ever say the Corvette was not one of the best bang-for-the-buck performance cars? I simply said it's not a good investment as a car given their relatively poor residual values.

Comparing a non-existent motor to a non-existent car seems fair to me.

actually, it was a pretty relevant comment. i was reiterating your point about leaving the currently-non-existent 5.0 out of the conversation. i just took it to the next level by bringing up a GM test engine that's been showing results that would easily surpass the 5.0 and the LS3, however it ain't in production, so let's just talk about the engines we have now... a 315hp 4.6L and a 422hp 6.2L

ps - i like watermelon

There's quite a big difference between something that hasn't even been fathomed in the mind of a Ford engineer and an engine that is currently powering both a base Corvette and a pre-production Camaro.

Garagelogic,

I like your ride. Will let you know how I like my SS when I get it vs my GT 500. I will bet that I will like the SS a lot, I think it will be an excellent car.

No, I never compared the 5.0 to the ls3, i never said any numbers about the 5.0, I was comparing the 315hp to the 422hp, And i do belive that the new mustang needs the 5.0, thats why so many mustang fans want it becuase they think it COULD have 400+ hp, an competition is good, notjust to say which car is faster and what not but for companys to balance sales,And quote where i said the ls3 is better than the 5.0, I did say the ls3 is better than the mustangs 315hp becuase it obviously is, at the moment.

Last time I checked it weights less than the maro and the chally, so it lacks IRS big wup

now for the LT and GT debate:

Stock for stock the GT wins hands down...............not going there...

now

number 1

And if I had 10K or 20K to mod a car, I'll take the GT over the LT

why- 2 extra cylinders, comes with 325 lb TQ stock, weights 3500is over the
LT manual that weighs 3741 pounds

I rather take 2 extra cylinders over Direct injection any day, DI is not all that new anyway.... GM is just following the trend and ford and dodge is not far behind them
