I would get a German Shepperd in a heart beat...but my German Shepperd I grew up with is about 16 old...so I don't give him one more year to go...I get sad every time I see him...and the wife has the same experience with her deceased Boxer...

Pits are nice...but everyone and their mother (literally) has one where I live...

I've been leaning more toward a Doberman lately though...
Sorry to hear your Shepperd is getting on in years, but if you decide may-be to get another Shepperd you might want to consider a King Shepperd, great dog, also a big dog, A King Shepherd dog (according to their "standard") ideally weighs between 120-140 lbs, They are also not recognized by the AKC, or UKC, but by some rare "breed" clubs such as ARBA, AKSC, and the APRI.

This is not my dog or girl (I wish) just an example of their size.

I love Shepherds and I never heard of a King Shepherd. But, I think it would be awesome to have a king size Shepherd.

Here is information you might find useful or just use Google search. A friend of mine has one and is a great dog, I`m considering getting one of her pups as soon as she`s been bred.

I've had both and I definitely prefer cats. My cats are all as friendly, companionable and playful as my dog was, with less work and less neediness.

Side note - I'm amazed at all you folks who allow dogs in your Camaro; no way would that happen here!!

My Jasmine, who passed away in July, 2008, at 11 years old.

My cats (all raw-fed):

You bet.

You'd think with so many, the work would be prohibitive, but the litter boxes are easy since they're raw-fed (low quantity and low-odor - THANKFULLY), and the feeding routine is hardly more than it would be were they can-fed.

The dust bunnies can get out of hand sometimes, but I've some serious vacuum cleaners for wrestling 'em back under control.
