I hate fanboys (of mustang or camaro, or xbox360 or PS3, etc.) but here's a something that I don't get.

I know both are on the site, but at least the camaro fanboys are in the right spot...Why are the mustang fanboys here (No I don't mean all the guys talking about mustangs, but the actual fanboys)?

Really the mustang threads could work 1 of 2 ways.

1) the mega thread that we have. and I do agree this is the best option.

or

2) having to constantly pick through threads about the stang that are about the same thing and merging them together. you would also have to get tough moderating. Like warning/stunning/banning members on a daily basis.

The mega thread in my mind is the best, or most effective, way to handle the situation.

Would you like me to delete the mega thread and see whose post counts drop dramatically? I'd be willing to bet it would be some of the same people responding to this thread. Most of them here just to talk about the mustang.
You don't see a problem with that?
Do it! That would be cool. It's called reboot. Who cares about post count anyhow? Why have it at all when it's impossible to read? Makes no sense to me.

I can't tell you if you passed or not. I CAN tell you if you've crossed that line I spoke of. And without getting super personal -- a quick glance through your post history indicates you only take part in conversations that include the Mustang...the mega thread, vs threads, Z28/GT500 threads. THAT raises a red flag...

It's the great paradox of the internet. We all KNOW we can't read emotion or intent on a screen unless someone qualifies it before every statement. But yet, we continue to take things personally and get all bent out of shape over it....leading to bickering and insulting....which ultimately gives a thread a sour taste and a good 'ole closing.

It's simple manners, when I come to your house I try to be respectfull and not break the furniture. I would expect the same when you come to my house. Now let's all go over to BMW's house and jump on the sofa.

The way I handle things at GMI (which may be different than how the mods work here): As long as you're respectful and offer something to ALL discussions with well-backed and researched points, then you're fine, doesn't matter what you drive or what company is your favorite.

Members who do nothing more than post in specific threads solely to discredit the article or topic because it goes against their point of view/company or to start arguments with other members are watched very closely and infracted/banned if they continue.

Why should we give the Mustang people any preferance and let them take over the "other cars" section?

Because if we don't have a "mega merge" thread there will be hundreds of Mustang threads in that section.

Like I said. This is a camaro forum first. And we will not give preferance to people who are solely here to talk about other cars.
1) I don't think anyone is asking to give "Mustang People" any preference to take over any section, merely that the mega thread merges discussions that aren't related to each other. On the other hand, merging all the "5.0 vs M3" threads makes sense.

2) To your last statement: it's a fair statement, but the problem is that many people are "Mustangist" (Mustang prejudiced), and automatically paint all people who talk about the Mustang as fan boys. Until you ask them, you cannot assume someone's motives. For example, I started with a Camaro passion and a strong interest in buying the Z/28. I ended up ordering the Shelby instead. Someone who didn't know that history might think I'm a "Mustang Person", but I don't consider myself that. I consider myself a car fan who started out in this community and I feel a part of it. Who cares what I end up driving?

I think in the end, what matters is the quality of the conversation and topic - and not the one who posted it. If it's a good discussion, then it's worth having it as long as it's in the right place.

Why do Mustang owners get blamed for starting threads that are actually started by either Camaro owners or owners of another brands altogether? A small percentage of us actually start them.

I will admit I dont like the Camaro for its looks but I respect it and like having it around. I will also admit to not posting in anything other than Mustang threads but I dont ever come in and say the Camaro is crap. I have nothing to add to threads that are soley about the Camaro since I dont own and have not owned one. I however have test drove one on a couple of occasions and have owned many other GM products wich help me form an opinion.

I do however think the mega thread is a good start.

okay, i'm gonna start this by saying I did not read more than the first ten posts here, mainly because I would be glued to the screen for an hour to catch up on this thread. That being said, sorry if this topic already came up in the thread and please ignore my post.

I don't know if everyone remembers how the other cars forum was before the mega thread came into existence, but I do. Every other thread was about mustangs. EVERY. OTHER. THREAD. There we're hundreds of mustang threads there, and alot of them covered the same subjects. We could have had up to 10 threads covering the same subject. Granted, they were usually merged together, so it cut down on how much stuff I had to re-read. But on a CAMARO website, as much as I respect other cars, the number of mustang threads rivaling the number of camaro threads is ridiculous.

I value the opinions of other car owners posting on here, and its true what many have said, we would be terribly misinformed if not for you guys. You provide an invaluable service to this website, and I thank you. I know we sometimes get a hive mind here and get pigheaded and try to make other cars seem inferior to the camaro, and You keep us in check.

The mega thread is not the perfect answer, not by a long shot, but it's better than having 20+ new mustang threads popping up every day. You have to remember that even though this website has a large population of other car owners, the vast majority is not! We have something like 26000 registered users, I believe, or some other ridiculously high number, they didn't join mustang5, they didn't join challenger5, they didn't join corvette5, they didn't join (insert car here)5 .com, they joined camaro5.com. Most of them joined here to get information regarding the camaro, some joined because they liked the community of the website, other's joined to bash on the camaro, others joined to praise it even though they don't own one or want to own one because they own a competitor's car.

Of course there can be a better solution than the mega thread, but i'd rather have one thread showing up on my feed that has mustangs in it instead of 10. You don't have to like it, that's the beauty of it. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to be here, and you can leave to find a website that will have mustangs as the prominent subject. Please don't take that the wrong way and assume i'm being rude and trying to kick you out of this website, take it for what it is, just some advice from a fellow forum member.

Its silly to think that the mods want mustang threads in this website at all, and its incredibly gracious of them to allow the other cars forum to exist at all. But they are necessary to allow the website to grow and flourish.

Just take this website for what it is, a CAMARO website, don't expect us to want to be fair to other cars. This website is dedicated to CAMAROS, so tough cookies for you. In time, we may get a better solution for the mega thread, but remember that it was put in place for a reason..................

Well, the house is a mess. Isn't the "other cars" section the proper place? Why relegate the Mustang to one big useless thread in this section? I don't see any other cars treated that way. I've never been to a Mustang site where all the Camaro threads were dumped into one unreadable thread. They seem to deal with it there, I don't see why it can't be dealt with here as well. It feels like you don't want to acknowledge the Mustangs existence, so let's throw any mention of it in the trash can labeled "Mustang Mega thread".

Any meaningful comparison between the two cars is completely lost for anyone wanting any real information. I hope that's not the agenda here.

It's too bad we can't have any real conversation here without the fan-boy flamers (from both sides), bringing these threads to to a nut swinging contest. If I was a mod here, I'd concentrate on shutting down the flamers that bring nothing to a conversion other than to stir it up. It's not too hard to see who they are.

I hope this post isn't read as an insult to this site, or the mods. Constructive criticism, yes. There's a lot of good people here, but the noise level of the thread crappers is starting to drown out any meaningful conversation.

I know you guys make the rules, and I abide by them. But that doesn't mean I agree with all of them, and would at least hope you can try to see it from another point of view.

*this is *not* a Camaro vs. Mustang thread, so please consider posting to the mega thread if you want to say something like: "Mustang rules", "Camaro rules", "Ford sucks", "GM sucks", "Mustake, Mustank, Slomaro, "mullet head", 5.slow, etc.
I have brought up this point before. It seems the owner of this site really doesn't want to facilitate mustang talk ever since the 5.0 has been released and is beating the Camaro SS in every benchmark. SO bunching everything up is his way of destroying any sensible discussion about the new Mustang in this forum. It will drive people away, including me if it continues unchanged.

Perfect example.
First bolded section: Opinion
Second bolded section: Unecessary jab at the camaro
Third bolded statement: Opinion

We get it, you hate the camaro since you got your mustang. Every post you make has a jab about how much better you like the mustang over the camaro. Your purpose for being here (from all of your posts) is for what? to try and convince others to sell their camaro or not buy one, and to buy the car that YOU like better? Again, no one is forcing you to be here, but you insist on staying here and complaining.

And now you're trying to call out the owner of the site with your thoughts about why he does things? Do you have any proof that he wants to force mustang owners off the site? I'm sure if he didn't want any mustang talk, all mustang discussion would be stricken immediately and the people posting about mustangs banned. I'm sure that he has the power to do so.

Edit: Isn't posting opinions what you claim everyone else does about the mustang? Hypocrite?
