Nascar Guys

Reading today's San Diego sport page, it looks like Fontana is going to lose a race next year (2011) because of poor attendance, the economic time's, and a poor format for NASCAR auto racing. What are we to do???

What are we to do? Why, go to the Cup race at Kentucky on July 9th! That's what we'll do.

I wasn't happy about them changing our Phoenix race from April night race to February day race.

Start racing cars bought from dealerships in races instead of stupid looking shells with stickers? That could help.

Sonoma will only attract the locals if the switch over to Hybrids or full electrics.

Maybe they should also go back to tracks like Rockingham or give Darlington its 2nd race back. Those tracks have character. I'm sure the facility is nice out in California and I bet there are a lot of seats there, but if the racing is no good people aren't going to come out.

I agree that they need to go to at least (nearly) stock body work. It would be too much to hope for if they mandated that the production car has to have a similar displacement engine and the same drive configuration as the race car. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with Toyota sending out FWD V6 Camry's against the Dodge Charger. They'd finish each race about 20 laps down.
