Trying to help my Father look for a new car, need suggestions.
The past 3 cars my Father has owned were some build of a Lexus, the last being a GS 430. He is starting to look into new cars and was asking me for some advice. Personally I'm not a fan of Lexus, if I was going for a higher end, nicely built car I'd go with Audi or BMW, but that's just me. For those of you who don't know, the GS 430 is a sporty luxry car from Lexus. I think he kind of wants to stay on that route. He's been looking into the CTS-V, which would be awesome. I was joking about the GT-R and he somewhat seriously was interested, but he'd like to have a four door car. He's talked about possibly an M6 or M3. But I honestly don't know too much about those higher end luxry sport cars, so if anyone has suggestions I'd be happy to hear them!

Well first of all if he's looking at a car that can go pretty fast he's not going to want the M6, as great as it looks it's little more than a status symbol and has the same engine as the M5, so he would want either a M3 or M5 if he wanted a BMW. I would personally go with a CTS-V or an M3, the Audis are great but I was raised BMW. You could also get him to look at the Porsche Panamera, they really aren't as ugly as they look in pictures IMO. Then of course there is the Mercedes AMGs which would cover either way he wanted to go, if he wanted a Mercedes. Maserati of course. The Ferrari 612 has a backseat, might not be much of one but it does have one.
I realize a good chunk of those are probably a bit on the pricey side compared to what he's coming from but for all I know they might not be.

For a four door I would go with a Cadillac CTS-V or Mercedes Benz C63 AMG

Yup 4 door, sports minded, doesn't need to be super fast but the faster the better. Price range up to mid 70's. Decent backseat headroom/legroom would be good as well, hence the 4 door.
Obviously a Z06, or a Viper would be a nice fast toy for him, but he wants something nice insde, he's comming from a Lexus where road noise is minimal and the interior is pretty nice.

go with the caddy! even without the V option....even the STS's are very nice, jsut a silght bit bigger, but the CTS is a lot sportier interior, the STS is more for true comfort.

Well, since you are on a GM forum, I bet you expected to get all the CTS-V's. In case you are interested in anything else:
Mercedes c63 AMG Mercedes E Class sedan (350 or 550) Lexus IS-F Audi S4 (Trust me, these are pretty fast and they are really nice) If he wants bigger, Audi S6 BMW M3 sedan BMW 5/7 Series (these cars now have upgraded turbos. The 550i has a 4.4L twin-turbo v8, good for 400hp. Fast enough?) Porsche Panamera Have your dad drive all these cars and see what he thinks |
