This amout is 20% of the U.S. amount. Once the U.S. Gov't gets their act in gear, the Canadian gov't will increase their loans as time goes on.
CTV news also reported that the car plants will close for all of January and return on February 9th, however they said "The Camaro Plant will remain open." that was a direct quote

Thanks Canada. It is really disheartening to know that other countries see the value of the American auto makers, where our own porked out government is only interested in blindly giving over 700 BILLION to the banking industry, who in turn invests it in parties (AIG), and the Chinese economy (Bank of America).

Thanks again Canada.

On behalf of myself, as a PROUD CANADIAN, I would like to thank ALL of our Southern supporters with their gratitude & kind words for our Government stepping up to the plate. I hope the U.S. gets on board very soon and the two governments can work in tandem to save what is one of the most important industries in the world.

I'm gonna move to Canada! But I don't think I could take the cold.
Come on Mexico, help us out!
Whats GM's other worldwide brands going to do if GM fails? like Holden, Opel, Vauxhaul?

I'm sorry for listening to Weird Al's "Canadian Idiot" song, the green day spoof.

Hey, How dare you move this thread to the "General Auto + Other Cars discussion"
This issue about money, may seem like it only has to do with the state of company, BUT, it has EVERYTHING to do with the future of the Gen5 Camaro and members should be able to post their thoughts here.

I can't believe other countries are doing all this for the Big three...and we're not. Ugh, I'm so frustrated and embarrassed I want to cry.

Maybe this will 'encourage' the US gov't to do something....

Because it's about General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler....not just the Camaro? As much as we like the car, there's much more at stake, and we're (mods) trying to keep the 5thgen forums about the 5thgen....also, this location doesn't prevent any members from posting in here.

well thank God SOMEONE has a clue and did something... how sad is it that even OTHER COUNTRIES are doing more for our auto industry than the US Government is... that's just pathetic... I'll never understand how our Congress can do so many stupid things in a 120day period.

It's the only place it can come from. The only money the gov't of any country can loan out comes from taxpayers. It will be the same situation down here once the treasury agrees to tap that stupid 700 billion pool of money.

If Canada can loan 3.5B, America can loan 15B.

Its as much their tax money as yours or mine. New car sales from the big 3 generated $1.8B in GST revenue last year.
