Actually, this would be horrible news. If Ford had to discontinue the Mustang it would mean the pony car market is not profitable as they're the ones making the money (Mustang heavily outsells the other pony cars). If the Mustang dies, the Camaro would go with it, as well as the US auto industry.

Alternatively, it could mean that the market share of Ford would no longer be Ford's, and Chevrolet could split that market with Dodge. It might not be a significant enough market for 3 companies to take, but it might be profitable for 2.

I find that very hard to believe. The Mustang will still outsell the Camaro... It always has and it always will because its cheaper...
