No kidding! Chrysler is just pricing themselves out of the market. They can't win on price or performance. I highly doubt the new 6.4L SRT8 will be that much better than the 5.0 and SS if at all.

That's the thing, I don't think it's getting any major interior upgrades outside of the steering wheel.

Good discussion... And like many of you, I am waiting for the official word from Chrysler on horsepower/torque output of the new production version of the 6.4L Hemi. I have been following the posts of several "insiders" that post on some of the leading Mopar forums, sometimes dropping hints about upcoming changes or new products.
Before I found this thread, I posted the following in another thread... but it is probably a better fit here: Quote:
Keep in mind that there will be two versions of the 6.4L Hemi, a MDS equipped version for the Automatic cars... and a Non-MDS (fixed displacement) version for the Six Speed cars. Based on RS's track record, I am going to "go-out-on-the-limb" and make my prediction for the two versions: MDS 6.4L for Automatics - 480 HP Non-MDS 6.4L for 6 Speeds - 505 HP The general consensus on the other thread seemed to be that 500+ HP for a 6.4L pushrod N/A motor was a pipe dream, and even 480 HP was very unlikely... and that may well be true. The Engineer side of me tells me that the 500 HP target is not achievable without a significant technology upgrade, but only VCT (like VVT) is rumored. But, taking a leap of faith, I am over-riding my pre-disposition to logic. Anyone care to join me now out on a limb of their own with their prediction of the HP output for the two versions of the upcoming 6.4L SRT engine? XS |

> Power Sunroof > Nav System with all the other related gizmos > 6 CD/13 Speaker Sound System Upgrade > Goodyear F1 Supercar Tires Everything else was standard on the SRT, including a number of amenities that I could live without (like heated seats, not a big requirement in Texas). I purchased my SRT with only two options, the 6CD/13Spkr Sound System and the F1 Tires. I definitely did not want the other two options... not only due to the cost, but for other reasons as well. BTW, the MSRP for my SRT was $43,900... and I paid $42,200 +TTL XS |

I only have 2 gripes about the SRT8 challenger is the interior which they are finally fixing and the stupid price they want for them. In canada with our crazy tax's the 2011 is going to cost you close to 60k. Sorry but thats pricing yourself out of the market imo. Your only option imo is go south and buy one if you really have to have it.

You may have seen pictures of an interior in a pilot production car that is believed to for the restyled 2011 Charger. Have you seen something more specific about Challenger interior changes for 2011... maybe I missed something? XS |

Latest 6.4L Hemi Rumor... FWIW... Posted today after the end of the "Chryslers At Carlisle" show. Although I believe "Orange Crush" (the poster) was told the tale by a Chrysler employee, it just does not have the "ring of truth". Why sand-bag 25-45 HP... the engines will be dynoed as soon as they are released. I could believe that Chrysler might have to "de-tune" a 500+ HP engine to help the 5 Spd Auto survive until the 8 Spd ZF Auto comes into production. With the Viper side-lined, Chrysler needs a "Halo" car with at least 500 HP to lead the charge... so, it just doesn't make sense.
Comments?...
