More impressive that it is in a Ford Edge...Lexus has been doing it for a few years.

Lexus system is crap.

I do like where BMW is going with their system also.

thats wicked. but can it work with a manual trans? and can you back the car out using the same tech?

Who in their right mind would park their car on the street like that? How much extra weight and money does this stuff add to the car? Why not park in a safe place and walk? Are we THAT lazy now?

Next thing you know the nannys will make this mandatory "safety equipment" and raise the price of all cars hundreds of dollars.

instead of parking farther away and walking, why not teach people how to drive better?

What happens if you have a computer glitch when that thing is backing "itself" up??

Demolition Derby with the other parked cars?

Way to much control for a machine, some things we "humans" should still be in control of...and backing up is one of them.

Park Assist = Overrated wingding to grab more money from consumers.

Here's an idea, standardize driving tests across all states, so everyone has to parallel park successfully in their tests. My dad made sure I knew how to parallel park before he let me loose with his car.

Wasn't there a thread in the other room about something's wrong with our country? This is a classic example with whats wrong........laziness and stupidity are apparently in vogue now.

I would love for us to adopt the german style of drivers licensing.

100% agree. Park assist is a cool feature on your car....if you don't know how to drive. What if your car hits a parked car while using the park assist? Who do you blame....yourself? Or do you sue the auto manufacturer for a computer error? I guarantee most people would blame the computer. Just another excuse for people to use for not accepting responsibility. Bottom line....if you can't parallel park, don't try to parallel park....or take the bus.

You control the throttle and the brake, so you aren't going to hit unless you just don't put on the brake, which happens in any car
