I'm not sure what to believe.

I test drove a 5.0 today, and I thought it was nice and nimble and I had fun with it. But, I feel that my Camaro has more oomph to it when I mash the gas down (obviously the effect of the torque).

I think this just goes back to the Camaro being waaaaaay too heavy.

There was either a bad sensor or massive wheel spin. I seriously doubt the massive wheel spin based on the 60' times.

Run a few 1/4 mile calculators and you will find your answer.
8mph mmmm? so that L99 with longtubes should only trap 100?

what happens to the 107mph trap speed when you add 200+lbs of the camaro to that calculator? according to that same calculator an automatic Camaro with 330rwhp and 4100lbs should trap 101mph......

The cars are equal. The Camaro guy may have had long tubes, but I hope they were tuned because AR-headers give 30hp without a tune 50+with a tune according to the manufacture. The way I see it, the cars are dead even.
Although everyone's been racing the two cars in the 1/4 mile, I'd absolutely love to see the SS vs the 5.0 in a 1 mile drag race, like what Motor Trend did with the Exotics, that way we'd see if the 5.0 can hang with the SS on the top end. The 5.0 may be .1 second faster in the quarter mile, but I seriously think past the quarter mile the SS would walk the 5.0. For instance in the Motor Trend drag race of the 2, the SS did not win but towards the end of the race right before the photo-finish the SS was on the 5.0's tail hard.

Which tells me, hey the SS looks to be pulling past the 5.0 but the race is over, I wonder what would happened if we extended this race a little longer,.....would the SS pull past the 5.0 or would the 5.0 maintain it's nimble speed and continually run away from the SS in the mile long run. Somehow, I don't think so. Someone please setup the race.........

couple more examples using that calculator:

LS1 Camaro-------3650lbs, 300rwhp = 101.7mph
LT1 Camaro-------3700lbs, 245rwhp = 94.6mph
03 Cobra----------3850lbs 370rwhp = 107.2mph
2010 LS3 Camaro--4050lbs 375rwhp = 105.8mph
07 GT500---------4100lbs 425rwhp = 109.9mph
SRT8 Challenger-----4350lbs 365rwhp = 102.4mph
RT Challenger auto---4250lbs 330rwhp = 99.8mph
nissan gtr------------4000lbs 420whp = 110.4mph

looks like the calculator is off to me.........

They ran it with a convertible manual, so their numbers were clearly wrong.

MR CLUTCH: No, the guy says he has no tune yet for his SS.

you used incorrect weights and hp ratings to skew the results in your favor.

the rods ARE NOT the same as previous modulars. they are far stronger. they are cracked forged. forging them makes the far stronger. the 450rwhp limit stuff is low for the coyote.

The Challenger weight is correct, but the trap speed is wrong. I never trap less than 103, I average around 104.5

On the Mustangs 12.73 pass I took his eighth mile to quarter time segement and found that it went 4.406 on the big end. With my 12.58 pass I done the same and it was 4.393. Even though I hit the fuel shut off right at the end of the track and may kill a mph or 2 its not pulling any harder than mine? So the 115.597 still has me???
