what is the fastest you've driven a car?

While this is in no way meant to encourage speeding on public roads, I'm sure we've all pushed the gas peddle a little too far at some point in the past, hopefully on a track

What is the fastest you've gone... not counting riding in a jet, being an airforce pilot, being on a bullet train, etc... we are talking about in a car or truck

I've had my 71 Chevelle speedometer buried past the 120 and got my 95 Z-28 to 135 before feeling like it was going to go airborn so I let off the gas even though it still wanted to accelerate.

I have a friend who got nailed doing 160 in a 68 Olds Cutlass Supreme (w/modified engine

) on the PA Turnpike back in the late '80's or early '90's & they took his license right there on the side of the road & towed his car.

Thank God we are older & wiser now

I have another friend who has a pro street GTO that had previously been his brothers...when he took it out the first time, they had to slow down for him to run because of his level of experience and he still ran fractions of a second under the limit he was allowd... I'll have to ask him more details on that.

So what about the rest of ya?

180mph at talladega. on my next to last lap. 157mph in a supercharged highly modded toyota MR2. My sister was driving. I thought I was going to die.

The fastest I've driven was 130 in a car. I've ridden 165 in a BMW M5 (which felt like it was barely moving).

Sorry... I joined last Oct but just really started visiting the forum regularly this month.
Something I read in the news made me think about the subject of this thread & I got curious.
I didn't want to promote speeding on public roads or anything, just got curious & I know many members probably have some track time under their belt & many many more are like myself who were once that bad combination of young, stupid & adventurous.
