Great times, but if you put tires, suspension work, exhaust and a tune on the SS I don't think the times would be a whole lot different under the exact same conditions and also competent driver.

Motor Trend just tested the new 5.0 Stang and it appears that it will beat out the SS...you have to hand it Ford...they came right back...and the Pony Wars continue!! In fact, when MT dynoed it, they found that it was really putting out about 435HP and bit more torque than advertised (did have a K&N filter on it...but that doesn't add that much) and it had the 3.73s in it...quarter mile in 12.8 sec...not bad at all...let's see what Chevy comes back with...

Exactly....and how many bring a stock car to the track? A few will but most wil have a few mods and then it's all out the window and up to the driver to hook the car and get it down the 1320.

I seen the motor trend new video of the 1/4 run between the 2 and I can't help but notice the SS was on the Stangs tail, I wonder how things would have went if they ran a 1 mile run. I truly belief the SS would have caught the Stang on the top end and walked it.
I'd like to see that. If the Stang can beat the SS in a mile run, that'll be the deciding factor for me. They've ran exotics in top-speed 1 mile runs, and usually the car with the most HP won, because after the 1/4 it became a horsepower race.

Dead on...I don't know why these magazines don't get enthuseiests to drive the cars of their choice on real drag strips . Alot of the numbers the mags print are total BS and way below what some good drivers on many forums get .

Pretty much I don't think that version will actually be the one sold, It might a normal GT with a sport pack that would push the cost up
