Lets all just put our camaros in the crusher. I guess I was just to stupid to figure out what a piece of crap my new SS camaro is. Boy am I glad I have this forum to let me know I should have bought a mustang instead of my heavy slow sled. All hail Ford and there mighty GT, I am out of here. P.S. (That is sarcasm) I love my camaro and would have bought it even if it had an electric motor and ran 0 to 60 in 60 seconds.

Why are the Mustangs limited to 145? You know they have more.

With an $80 airlid it went 13.1@109 but of course some of that gain can be attributed to experience and practice. When

Count me as one Camaro owner who is DAMN inpressed that this car is running bottom 12's with just a tire, very basic boltons and a preliminary tune. No excuses here, just giving credit where it's due. That time would rank third on this site's list of fastest bolton fifth gen Camaros and they've had the car for all of a week. It definitely suggests we will see far better than low 13's at around 110 in stock form as time goes on.
LSR performance ran a 12.61 on their VERY FIRST pass in a 2010 camaro. But yes most of the time it makes a big difference to most drivers. I have always gave this new mustang respect so dont look here for any complaints.

EVIL TWIN...I dont follow on the tire spinning thing. If they got a decent launch in the first place and were not spinning the tires before the initial 1-2 shift (spinning the whole time) I dont see how the car would be spinning much after that. My car at 435rwhp only gets a little squirly on the 1-2 shift. I can get a good chirp out of third. So I dont see how spinning would be a factor in the new mustang at stock power levels...unless you have TERRIBLE conditions...worse than a regular street which I was referring to.

Although the mustang is geared quite a bit closer...so the 1-2 shift in the stang might be a little more tricky....Ive never driven one.

But yeah good results. The exhaust is pretty much free flowing though...the factory manifolds look almost like mid lengths in my opinion...and the air intake is a performance design in itself. So it is almost equally modded compared to the bolt on LS3....and still running right with it.

Looks like us in the LS3 crowd is going to need a cam change to be comfortable NA with these new mustangs.

SS faster than 5.0???

Too lazy to search so I apologize if this is a repost:

http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...07775a541f.pdf

Both took 4.6s to get to 60mph

SS 1/4 mile = 13.0s
5.0 1/4 mile = 13.2s

SS took 18.0s to get to 130mph
5.0 took 19.8s to get to 130mph

Given the other magazine's test (don't remember which one), it sounds like it's just going to have to be "driver's race" between the two.

They probably could do the same 0-60 test 10 times with those cars and the numbers would be back and forth

Well the short answer is yes..

The SS has more HP, Torque and displacement, it will always eventually outrun the 5.0..when is the question.

Holy COW ford finally catching the LS1 after 12 years N/A!! What an accomplishment!!

FYI the 12.04 was a 3.73 option GT on a Bogart Drag pack (M/T Et's) with exhaust, K&N, and a tune.

the 2010 Camaros have the same if not greater potential on a smaller rim, Exhaust, Tune, Slicks, and seat time.
Theres No Replacement For Displacement!!!

ive given up on Car and Drivers comparos with the new camaro and mustang. just by reading the articles you can tell the are biased toward the mustang. anyways. like everyone else said, yes its quicker. even though the camaro is bigger, it can move its weight faster cus it has a bigger engine with more TQ and HP

here is the entire Article

Evolution Performance runs 12.04 in their Bolt-On 2011 Mustang 5-liter while making 405 WHP

Every guy who has gotten their hands on a new Mustang seems to be bitten by the performance bug fairly quickly. When the wallet doesn't permit a massive amount of modifications to the car, an enthusiast that still wants to drive his car every day is probably going to go after some 'plain old' bolt-on modifications to retain drive-ability. Although most share the opinion that 412 horses from the factory is plenty enough to pickup the groceries and the kids from soccer practice, Evolution Performance Inc. decided they'd get their hands on a few bolt-ons to see what they'll do for this 'Stang in a street/strip application. The only real 'performance enhancing' modification that they spec'd the car out with from the factory was the 3.73 gears out back.

You can check out Evolution Performance on their website for more.

Photos: Evolution Performance Inc.

They started things off slow, when the car was basically stock right down to the stock 19" wheels and tires, which netted them a 12.88 (fairly close to Motor Trend's results). After that, the old shoes were kicked off for some Mickey Thompson ET Streets, and some tweaking under the rear end was done - including a set of aftermarket upper and lower control arms. With just some minor suspension tweaks and good tires, they took the car out to Cecil County Dragway, where they were able to make a best run of 12.49 at 112 before nightfall put an end to the fun for the evening.

The guys over at Evolution knew there was more in that setup since they weren't leaving extremely hard shown by the 1.8 60 foot time, but they were anxious to get working on the off-road cat-less X pipe and modified Borla cat-back exhaust to have a sweet rumble and also unleash a few horses. Along with the exhaust, they popped in a K&N drop-In filter and an in-house custom tune using SCT software.

The results speak for themselves - Not only did they bump the dyno numbers jump up to 405 horsepower to the wheels, but they thundered this 2011 Mustang down the quarter mile in 12.04 seconds, hitting the traps at 117 MPH. Also, a tenth was shaved off their 60 foot time. Evolution is positive it'll go 11's without any more mods to the car, but they realized after about a dozen track runs, dyno time, street fun and such, they've gotten all they can out of the stock clutch for now. Not too much of a disappointment, after all, it's an excuse for more modifications now, right? Stay tuned to see what else Evolution Performance has in store for this 5.0.

Pulls of the 2011 Mustang in stock form making 368hp. They picked up 42whp with simple bolt on mods... not bad.

I, for one, am actually happy the mustang is finally catching up. friendly chevy vs ford rivalry is always a good thing

The only way to tell is at the track. mustang guys will talk about the gears and weight. camaro guys will talk about the hp and torque. It'l be up to the driver.

When the difference is 0.2 seconds in the quarter mile, you're looking at a driver's race. Run it 100 times and you'll most likely see a 50/50 split.

I think suspension and tune tweaks merit more than a basically stock title. Howver I think the rest is spot on!
