I thought it was a 'fad'. I had no idea how to pronounce a 't' after a 'd', so I just dropped it. It struck me as odd that 40% of the letters would be silent though ... oh well.

Well, in german when two consonants are right next to each other your pronounce the second one, not the first. So its fat. LMAO. Apparently with a soft A.
