the only qualms i'd have would be getting that sucker to hook. vettes + more power = real traction issues anyway, so just imagine taking that much weight off your drive wheels...
I'm not sure how much the weight would actually change. You're removing the glass, but if there is a pickup box, it should be made of steel which would add weight back again.

if they make that car in a 2+2 or RX-8 style 4 door, i would seriously wake up tomorrow at 5, wait outside the dealer till it opens, then order the car.

im in the process of moving from 1 apartment to another and my car is not that awesome at fitting boxes and belongings.

The design already lends itself well to doing the RX8 door setup. That'd be awesome.
