They are pushing themselves VERY hard to punch through the German lux competition.
The CTS-V proved they can...I hope the ATS will re-affirm it.

The Lacrosse along is taking sales away from the CTS. It's just as nice on the inside and about 7-8 cheaper when both are fully loaded. Also the Lacrosse is bigger on the inside and the looks on the outside is just as good if not better. So in essence more are buying the Lacrosse over the CTS and thats where the problem with Caddilac is coming in.

The problem I have with doing a direct sales comparison between Cadillac and BMW or Lexus is that GM has 2 luxury brands, and a high(er)-end truck brand. So while each brand sells less, no automaker sold more luxury vehicles than GM. Its a lot like the F-series being the best selling full size truck year after year. True ... when looking at 1 brand, but add up Avalanche, Sierra, Sierra HD, Silverado, and Silverado HD and GM greatly outsells FoMoCo.

So? Add up the Buick and Cadillacs sold last year and then go ahead and compare them to BMW or Lexus - your pic.

BMW sold 21670 vehicles last month.
Lexus sold 20219 vehicles last month.

And Buick/Caddy sold 24590 combined last month.

Not sure why you want to look at last years numbers instead of this year, but I'll give you what you want. I didn't include Saab and Hummer under the umbrella of GM's luxury brands in my previous post because they won't be part of GM's sales for much longer. But since you wanted 2009, I am including them here for the 2009 sales

2009 Totals:
Lexus: 215.9k

BMW: 196k

Buick: 102.3k
Caddy: 109k
Saab: 8.6k
Hummer: 9.0
GM total: 228.9k

March 2009:

Lexus: 14.2k

BMW:17.5k

Buick:7.2 k
Cadillac: 8.5k
Saab: 1.3k
Hummer: 0.8k
GM total: 17.8k

March 2010

Lexus; 20.2k

BMW:18k

Buick: 12.9k
Caddy: 11.6k
(Saab: 0.7k)
(Hummer: 0.3k)
GM total: 24.5k (25.5k)

The SRX is a hit, but I can't figure out why the CTS is not doing better

Reasons for STS and DTS sales are obvious...

We have an Escalade now and although I don't like to drive that large of a vehicle, it is a nice, comforable ride...

They need a good replacement for the STS/DTS and one smaller than the CTS, IMO.

I agree... and I gotta think that the CTS issue seems to stem from the fact that Cadillac has pretty much pushed it's price up into 5series level with no "3series" ATS vehicle to catch the fall-out. Look at the CTS sales (2,870) numbers vs 5series (2,886).. and the 5series has new product. Cadillac needs the ATS NOW... to get those 10K sales the 3series is pulling in.
