Yeah no doubt. I lived right by there for 2.5 years, it got to the point where instead of driving through STG to get to the interstate, I'd drive ten minutes around to get to it the back way. I had my Z for much of that time and it was to the point where, if I drove through there, I was getting pulled over, period. And god help me if it was after 11pm on a weekend, you'd spend 45 minutes while they scoured EVERYTHING trying to find something to write you up for. And if you said a WORD they becamse MASSIVE pr**ks. I was ECSTATIC to hear they were shutdown.

Yeah. I once had a cop yank me out of my car because I expressed my intent to take it to court. Apparently that was enough "attitude" to set him off -- nevermind the fact that it's our right to go to court and fight charges. Needless to say, upon exiting my vehicle, I shut my yap (years of watching COPS has taught me well). And when I went to court, my lawyer looked at me and said "Your case is dismissed. You're free to go."

I have the Escort 9500ix radar detector. It tells you where all the speed and red light cameras are. It is well worth what it costs just for the red light cameras. I live in TN, and if you just slow down to turn right at a red light camera, you get a ticket, this device reminds you of that so you will stop.

The victim's relief fund, I think that's what it is called here, gets a cut out of every fine, traffic or otherwise. Might only be $3 or $4, but it gets a share.

The only reason my department gets more then 50% of the ticket is that we are the dispatch for 911 as well as our department. The county doesn't have a dispatch, so the tickets pay for that service as well.

Radar detectors are only as good as the cop operating the radar, lol. I love the stops with the car that has a Valentine or Escort. Those folks almost always try to hide it, whereas the guy with the WalMart Whistler just sits there with a smile on his face when I point out the detector didn't work this time. On the flip side, I can honestly say my WalMart Whistlers have always paid for themselves. If they save me from just one ticket, it's paid for!

Or not using turn signals. Or having headlights off during inclimate weather (heavy rain, fog etc)

Totally, the careless infractions that do get alot of people hurt. I would love to see way more strict rules on properly operating your vehicle, or at least ENFORCE the ones you have.

Hell I even use handsignals if my turnsignals are broken, its the freaking law.
