the resale value difference between a $25k chevy vs. kia is less than $1k after five years. I wouldn't use "resale value" as a buying point.

And apparently, he plans on keeping it for more than 8 years making resale even less important.

KIA - costs half as much because you have to buy two of them. One to drive while the other one is in the repair shop waiting on parts being san-panned in from Korea.
long warranty? - YES! will you need it? - YES! loaner car costs included while it is in for all that warranty work? - NO WAY! Just my experience with them from a few years back. Who needs the hassle? -Mark. |

Our other car is a 2005 Kia Amanti. It was the most bang for the buck when we bought it, and pride had nothing to do with the decision. Other than the electric mirrors malfuntioning and the poor quality paint we haven't had any problems at all out of it. Hubby drives it 80 miles per day + business trips, etc. Comfortable ride, tons of amenities and resonable gas. It did depreciate in value by $12,000 after only 6 months, but we aren't planning on selling it. Given the choice I would go Chevy, but, judging from this Amanti, nothing wrong with a Kia either.

Plus the kia logo is just terrible, reason enough alone to buy the Chevy

If you haven't owned a Hyundai/Kia vehicle (same thing) before, I suggest checking the insurance premiums on them first.
You'll be surprised on how much higher they are than a Chevy.
