Got the 57 chev ready for spring!

I was bored today so I gave my 57chev a 7stage paint treatment and interior clean. I love this thing so simple and just rocks. For those into the older stuff its all original chrome, stainless, glass, seat framing and springs, unrestored dash and steering wheel, original headliner, original trunkmat/jack/spare(yes 57 spare still holds ait never used, original drivetrain, alternator, and 23,000 original miles,,,,,,,yes verified and documented. The car was torn apart 20 years ago and a retired bodyshop guy did an awesome job down to the last detail, lead removed full epoxy primed body and frame. 0 bondo all original steel. I had an appraiser check it all out and he said theres maybe 3 of these in such original condition and so complete. He was a huge fan of these cars and did the appraisal for free, he said it was an honour to look at the car. Anyhow heres some ok pics, my brother is a professional photographer and is gonna do some awesome shots of it and the Camaro when the weather gets nice.

Thumbs up

Beautiful car. I am a fan of those as well. Hoping my Dad's is left to me in his will., since I am the only "car guy" in the family. Here is a pic of his '57:

Its because theres no power assist. The 57 is basically the icon of American cars. You dont have to like it but it deserves respect.

Thanks mang. I do appreciate it. I give strangers rides all the time. I gave an old guy a drive after a carshow and afterwards he got teary eyed because the last time he recalled he was in a car exactly like it was when his father was driving him and his sister to a hospital because their mother was dying. After that I have really been thrown back as how something like a car can stir such emotions and that it may have helped him in some way in the future. Thats really the magic that an incredible car can do, and how awesome it is to be able to deliver that to someone.

Goo gone works amazing for white walls, doesnt hurt them and something in it maybe the citrus actually really helps protect them from scuffs and stuff.

I give rides to people 'of age' all the time - the memories for them are what makes owning a '57 anything worth while.

It is so cool to sit there and listen to the stories and to watch the 'time warp' they go through...old folks are young again, blasted back to when they were younger and driving the same car.

Once at a show, I had a guy RUN to the car dragging his wife. They were in thier 50's and his father had the exact same model Buick wagon that I do. He was beside himself standing next to it, and I asked him if he wanted to get in. The last time he sat in one, he was seven - he teared up remembering his dad driving him in the car to school and fishing trips...it is the sole reason I still go to car shows with the thing.

Your Chevrolet is beautiful. Oh how I wish my paint and chrome were that good!
