I doubt it , they are just gonna feel different , but if you drive in the city alot , that manual will get old real fast and if you jump on that auto you will find the car comes alive just about as much as the m6

Ok ,this will wear my finners out.....

Exhaust....axle back....will make it louder...it will drone at different rpms...with an A you wont like it....you saw the difference in the cars....imagine if the auto car was loud ?

cold air induction....will sound a little better, without complete exhaust system....wasting your money..CAI will usually throw codes on this car...can be problematic with a zone rep if your map sensor or ox sensor goes bad.

headers ,cam, intake suspension mods....can be HUGE PROBLEM if anything goes wrong. These are warranty violations period.

The drive train is so different in the two cars, you cant compare them, this affects the handling.

When I had My 68 Z/28 I used to run it pretty regular at the track and would tear up the clutch or a gear or a syncro almost every other week , put a turbo 400 in it with a shift kit and a 10 in. vega converter and had no more problems with it till I sold it and was way more consistant too so yeah I Like Autos , but I like to shift to , but as far as durability , I'll take auto any day

The a6 sounds different because of the cylinder shutoff mode, whatever they call it, and quieter mufflers.

Properly maintained and driven, a modern m6 will probably need a new clutch WAY before the auto has any problems. Burnouts aren't as hard on a clutch as riding the clutch up slowly in an agressive take-off. (burnouts are clutch dump, holeshots in these cars are clutch slip)

Adjustable coil-over shocks/struts, or stiffer drop springs and sway bars will liven up the road feel.

Manual trannies are a macho thing, no one here shifts more than I do, so you can't call me a woos, and I don't use a pussified synchro'd 6 speed.... All non-syncro for me baybee!

I'd take an a6 in a heartbeat.

...Oh yeah, the 21" wheels probably made a difference in the ride.

MC,
I'm sure you read my prev posts, and what I like or don't like about the A6 (no shifting, no roll back into cars that stop two inches from my bumper at traffic lights.) vs. M6 (felt more responsive, better road feel, sounded better).

The thing is.. even after I got better at driving an M6, I know me.. I'd still have my bad habit of riding the clutch :( (which is why I asked about the cost of maintenance/repair of each transmission).

Ok... so what I'm getting from you (extreemly helpfull) gents, is if I stay with getting the A6, and give it a good 1500 miles in road time, then swap out the stock exhaust with something like the axle back Loud Mouth II (I don't want loud, just more oomph), and tossed on some 21" rims.. I'd have as close as I'm going to get to the M6 feel?

I could fix all your bad habits in no time, but you'd be sore the next day.

Fiero is comparing a ***** cat to a tiger LOL
The Camaro would be more forgiving if you find yourself in the wrong gear... There's tricks you can use so you don't need to know what gear you're in, just what gear you need.

Think of it as having a 4 speed, those first 4 gears will be the only ones you use till you get on the interstate. You're slowing but not stopping... 2nd gear (most turns). 3rd and 4th for cruising in traffic.

1 and 2, slow maneuvering (stops and turns), 3 and 4, good speed in traffic, 5 and 6, highway.
