Dude you need to get off the computer and out to the race track once in a while to see what is going on in the real world. But you might not be able to handle it. lol

This is not a guess, it is a brief listing of what we will get as a worst case scenario for the 2011 Mustang GT. If I were to go beyond what I absolutely know and into what I expect....look for 425hp, at least 375lb-ft of torque and a real world curb weight starting extremely close to 3600lb. Gospel? No. Likely? More than a little.

In the end I expect the Mustang GT and Camaro SS to be too close to call on hp, with the Ford carrying a noticeable weight advantage and the Chevy holding a noticeable advantage in torque. Who will be faster? That is difficult to say. Assuming traction isn't an issue for the Chevy my guess is that this is going to be d*** close. We wont know until they throw down on the track.

Like I said, you can believe it or not...but that wont change what is coming.
We tend to follow all three brands here, and we haven't seen enough objective evidence to suggest that a 400-hp Mustang is a fact. We have insiders here that gave us the facts early on the Camaro, so I'm guessing that your uncited facts may be from either those experts or from your imaginations, much like the Z28 rumors running rampant around Camaro5.

In any case, we may be fans of GM with a healthy bias toward our brand, just like you guys, but we are also very objective. Inasmuch, we only listened to GM to learn facts about our Camaro, so we won't take your facts for face value unless you are from Ford. When you come to a Camaro forum, expect to meet some resistance to your Mustang information. While we do discuss all three major pony cars, as well as other brands regularly, we are a Chevrolet Camaro forum.

Ford has produced a great Mustang in the current model, and we all look forward to the next version—welcome to Camaro5.

doesnt matter

only thing that matters talking production cars is what they come with STOCK. just because some guy can sink all the equity in his house in a DOHC and have it go fast doesnt mean jack.

We don't have the same relationship with that nameless guy as we do with fbodfather. He is welcome to our forum as this forum respects all performance machines. Members are more than welcome to cite him. I haven't read any quotes or any facts. I have only seen more 5.0L rumors. To me, this is no different than the Z28 rumors that have been running around Camaro5. Everyone, including the Camaro enthusiast, wants to see a 5.0L Mustang. We all want to see Z28s on the streets, too. Now prove to us that either will actually happen.

That's the equivalent of GMPP. We can do that, too. Show me a factory Mustang GT with 400 horses in 2011, and I'll see you at the track.

I can appreciate how the internet environment leads to that kind of skepticism, but it just doesn't work for me. We knew the Camaro SS was going to be in the 400hp neighborhood a long time ago, just like we now know the Mustang GT is going to be in the 400hp neighborhood. I suppose my problem is that I know I am right. Again, you can obviously choose to believe it or not, it doesn't really matter to me. I'm just here to tell you what will be, what you do with it after that is up to you.

Actually, except for their Mod motor basis the upcoming production 5.0L and the 5.0L 'Cammer' crate motor are very different engines. The 5.0L production engine uses heads which owe their basic layout to the units used on the GT and GT500, bore and stroke are different too with the production unit using a slightly smaller, ~3.63 inch bore compared to the Cammer's 3.7 inch bore. The 5.0L we are going to see in the 2011 Mustang GT is a much better piece than the 5.0L 'Cammer'.
