LMAO at this. Do you really believe Americans are gonna buy FIAT cars? Those things are hideous.

ummmm tons of people bought the smart car which is by far the unsafest ugly tin can ive ever seen. what might be ugly to you is beauty to others. the fiats look damn good to me for it's segment. people love fiats in europe and fiat has been trying to find a cheap way back into america, and they found it in chrysler.

that would be a terrible decision......it's the only car since the challenger debut in 2005 to make me say "damn that is sweet"

To you they may be hideous, but I think America has become more tolerant of small, economical cars. If they are comparable to their competition then they will sale.

I can;t wait for the Abarth 500, that is going to be a hella fun little car! Yes it only has 160 HP, but only weighs around 2300 pounds. Not to mention it will be built in one of CHRYSLER'S plants here which is great.

As for the Challengers engine upgrades, it is simple. The new 11 Chargers and 300s get the new 3.6 and 6.4 Hemi, and the Sebring/Avenger are also Pentastars around the end of this year so what would be the point of making an obsolete engine for just one model? The 5 speed auto was just a stopgap Also, rumor has it, all new transmissions are coming for 12. Also fiat said the muscle cars will be designed here and he cars using Fiat platforms, would only be using the platforms, the bodies, interiors, engines, suspension tuning, etc will be done here. If you are going to berate at least do some research on it.

Apparently not enough people bought them.

"In 2006, after dwindling sales, Smart GmbH was liquidated and its operations were absorbed within the Mercedes-Benz automobile group. Smart GmbH lost nearly 4 billion euros from 2003 to 2006."

I'm talking about looks. I don't think cars like the Fit and the Prius are very attractive, but when compared to the FIATs they are beautiful.

The first Fiat-branded model to appear in the US is expected to be the popular Fiat Nuova 500 city car. Reports currently suggest the Fiat Nuova 500 model will be built at Chrysler's assembly plant in Toluca, Mexico which currently makes the PT Cruiser sedan and Dodge Journey crossover. http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...fiat-500_N.htm

Be honest, who expects this thing to sell extremely well in the US?

Yeah tons of people bought the smart up front and now look at the sales. They only sold ~2200 in Q4 of '09. Down ~65% from 2008 I believe. That means that just about everyone who would buy one, has and very few are going to move from here on out....

I think the car will do well in metro areas. Different strokes for different folks. We all can't drive the same cars. Heck I want a Fiesta as my daily driver.

I didn't say extremely well, nor did I say that particular vehicle would sell. I said if they make it competitive it will sell. I find that the car looks like a VW Beetle.

well ford has been making the stangs longer the chevy on the camaro. we had a freeze and came back with a new car. so of course mustang is going to battle. but in a year or two we will have lighter bodys, bigger or better tuned motors to show them up again with optional packages for the the track or street.

i am learning to admire both cars. i was looking at the gt350 and love it. looks great sounds good. the new mustang 2011 sounds and looks good also. but i still enjoy the look of my 2010 camaro.

But we all know that with the shape Chrysler is in, they have to do something fast. IMO, they don't have the time to fail and expect to remain in business. While Ford and GM did good in 2009 (especially Ford), Chrysler's sales tanked.
