" Ford's current strategy calls for at least a 250 pound weight reduction in the 2010 Mustang " if this is correct then GM has some serious competition ( the OBESE DODGE won't even be a threat lol) on there hands a Mustang GT coming in at say 3250 pounds with a 5.0 L would be VERY FAST indeed

I will keep saying it over and over and over again...

The current plans (from those on the inside)..

2010 mustang - body change, drive train is staying the SAME.
2011 mustang - 2010 body, drive train is staying the SAME.
2012 mustang - 2010 body, drive train is being UPGRADED.

and up the weight due to regulations.

you will never see a challenger mustang or camaro lose weight from one year to another. It will only gain more weight, keep dreaming.

duaratec v6 will be lighter than current cologne v6 total car you can bet on it; new v8 will be heavier of course because of what you said plus engine will weigh a lil more

Hold on bro, you're gonna get me in trouble. The 250lb weight loss target is for the GRWD-based Mustang due sometime around the 2013CY, and not the S197 refresh were about to see unveiled. An interesting tidbit, GRWD will use an IRS and will be good enough to underpin some Lincoln models without major changes. And Ford still wants the car to weigh 250lb less for their trouble.

Truth be told it isn't that far fetched. The Mazda RX8 isn't grossly more expensive than the Mustang GT, is close to the same size in most important dimensions, and would weigh in the neighborhood of the GRWD Mustang's target weight if you slipped a DOHC, 4.6L and T56 under the hood and trans tunnel. And that car comes by slow boat from Japan so production cost are exacerbated compared to what they would be were the RX manufactured here.

I admire your tenacity, but with all due respect that info isn't accurate. The 5.0L, 6-speed combo will be here for the 2011MY, and that is not a guess.

A minimal refresh. Now we know why they wanted to keep it under wraps for so long. They had nothing to show!
