Hey all, long time lurker here. You guys have a great community. Haven't had reason to register until now but would like your guy's opinion. I been lurking here and FT86club because both the V6 Camaro and future FT-86 Toyota interests me (I know they're really different cars
)). Anyways Toyota just announced a turbo G Sport concept car at the Tokyo show. It's a turbo 4 boxer engine. What are your guy's thoughts on how the two cars will compare? Here's pics and info on the turbo FT-86: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=306 I'm guessing the biggest difference will be the V6 Camaro will feel more powerful but the FT86 will handle better

Wow! Very different! Heavy Ricer there
So, if you're willing to wait a couple of years, just get the Z28! It's got lots of body lines to it...Blown out Celica....Oh, Welcome to the site! I'll keep my SS thanks!

Is it just me or does that look like a 370z and GT-R made a baby?

Why would you compare a coupe that is supposed to start possibly under 20k to the Z28 or even SS???? Anywho, a Toyota I like (sans CF hood and spoiler), never thought I'd see the day again.

Looks like a direct aim at the Z car to me.

Looks like a cross between an S2000 and a Spyder with a little 350Z thrown in there. The spoiler is a little bit too big for my taste though.
The main difference with a DI V6 (Camaro) vs a turbo 4-cyl is torque. The DI V6 engine has about 275ft/lbs of torque. The turbo has to build boost to reach maximum torque, which on a 2.0L 4-cyl will probably be around 200-225ft/lbs. So off the line, the Camaro would be faster but because the FT-86 will be considerably lighter it would probably beat it on a 1/4 mile. All in all, it will come down to looks. Do you want an import or do you want muscle? I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. |

The bridged tail lights look like a cross between a Celica and a RX-7. The front end looks like a Nissan 350Z or 370Z since Nissan was too lazy to make them much different. Toyota has no creativity; no image of its own. This car is an ugly bastardization of its competition. It is, however, refreshing to see Toyota try to build a performance-oriented product.

I like it, just get a smaller spoiler for it. Really like the ANGRY look of the headlights!

i'm not a huge fan of the rear end. with a few changes to that, and take off the ricer-wing and the hood, i'd give it some consideration. while they're certainly ripping off some huge design cues from other manufacturers, at least it looks half-decent.
