The cinematography was beautiful! No CGI, the movie was filmed the old way. Right from the start, the sight of the Knights riding into battle that night, and seeing the breath from those horses...! In fact, all the battle scenes were fantastic!!! And at the end when Arthur kills Mordred...the sight of the blood on the armor and weapons was so visually captivating!!!

Finally, how could I fail to mention the outstanding soundtrack, which featured quite a bit of Richard Wagner!!!

And then there were the scenes of Guenevere and Lancelot.

The entire movie was wonderful, and it was the closest telling on film, of Malory's, Le Morte Darthur.
I remember when that first came on HBO. Probably around 1983. A big favorite among everyone I hung out with. I havent seen it in a long time. Thats one I have to get a copy of. Thanks for the reminder.

Oh yeah, if you liked it then, you have to get a copy of it now! Dad would usually take me to the show, but I remember making him take me to this one! I had to see it on the Big Screen, and it was something to see that way!

If you've never seen it in Letterbox format, you'll be amazed at what you've failed to see when watching it on a normal T.V. screen. I'm laughing, but I'm in the mood to watch it now too, but I just don't have two and a half hours to spend on it right now.

My favorite would have to be Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Second favorite is Star Wars, Third is Ghostbusters, and fourth is Groundhog Day with Superman in fifth. I could watch these movies over and over

Back to the Future. It's a comedy, sci-fi, action, drama movie in 1. It's just an instant classic.

I'm a fan of wide screen (letterbox) but I havent seen Excaliber in that format yet. Being a fan of wide screen, I can apreciate what I've been missing on "the sides".

I remember my dad taking me to the movies. He took me to my first PG movie in 1970. It was "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." In 1979, he took me to see "Appocalypse Now". Going in, we thought it was going to be just another war movie. On the way out, and especially on the way home, we were efing speechless. Great memories.

Whenever I have the option, I always choose wide screen...even on a regular T.V.!

My oldest sister would take me at times to go see some films. The last one mom took me to was, Benji. But dad would take me to a bunch! And yeah, I remember seeing Appocalypse Now on the big screen! That really was, and still is a hell of a movie!!! HEY, have you seen the new version of it, the Redux version? There are several sceens added in it that we cut originally! If you haven't seen it yet, just go buy it...I think it's worth it.

And yes, there were alot of great memories! I've always loved movies! Even when I was sick from school, I'd stay home and watch all the old B & W movies while mom did her housework. Man, come to think of it, I've sure seen ALOT OF MOVIES!!!

I've seen "Redux". It answers some questions, but it also somewhat pulls apart the original studio edit. Not quite as tightly wound. But still good. A MUST see is the documentery "Heart of Darkness, A Filmmakers Apocolypse", filmed by Coppolla's wife. If you havent seen it, check it out.

I completely agree with you on the Redux!!! As far as the documentery, I haven't seen it from one end to the other, but would like to! But it does remind me of the fact that I've never read the book, "Heart of Darkness" that was used as the inspiration for the movie. I need to get that, and then make the time to read it. It really is supposed to be something!

Very good.

The movie also gave us: "First rule of Italian driving...*tears off Ferrari's rear view mirror*..what's behind me, is not important."
