Heater is Co-DC right now, but he's said over and over again he wouldn't mind if we brought in someone else as either Co-DC with him, or full time DC. Heater is 100% Gator, so he wouldn't mind being demoted for the sake of the team.

We also interviewed the LB coach from Penn State, but I don't think we're talking to him anymore because we brought in Line Backer/Special Teams coach DJ Durkin from Stanford...

So far we have hired 4 coaches in the off season.... And what does every one of them have in common?

Every one of them have worked under Urban Meyer at some point in their Career. This is good for 2 reasons.

1. It establishes loyalty right off the bat.

2. He knows how they work.... In fact I'll take that a step further... Each one coaches something different, but every one of them are high level recruiters. That tells me right away that as part of Urban's stress free new coaching style, he will be recruiting less, and will no longer coach the special teams.

I still think it's ridiculous they would let a team on probation play in the National Title game. It sends a bad message. And they are probation until 2012, but they are allowed to play in Bowl games now (they were banned til 2003). They are also on the NCAA Repeat Violator Window until 2014 due to repeated violations. Their football program is a disgrace.

I just don't like cheating. When I was involved in sports both as a competitor and as a trainer/coach I never cheated. And I despise those who do.

I played for NCAA D1 football, those involved have been punished at Bama..and they are under a microscope now(probation). They paid their penalty...just my opinion. I won't. The last thing they got caught doing was the textbook scandal. If they win, they won. But they are still on probation.

And come on, you can't equate an in-game penalty to paying a high school coach at least $50k to steer a player to Alabama. That's ridiculous.

Still can't get over how bad that pass interference call was that cost Miami the NC game to Ohio State back in 2003...


You should be able to review calls... especially calls as big as that.
