Looks all new. Doors are new and that's big bucks. Which means a new body side. So looks like a lot new even under the camo.

Well apparently some people like the 4 door Charger..namely police agencies who are buying them in epic amounts. The Charger was good enough to utterly destroy any competition brought before it by the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and the Impala.

Of course..the purists enjoy bitching about it being a "disgrace!" that the new Charger was a 4 door..thats why Mopar loyalists have Challengers now.

yep some ppl just love to trash the charger..it sells well as a 4 door....there is a reason why the challenger is a low production car, it is because it isnt gonna sell in high volume at its price. and neither would a 2 door charger.

It's no worse than what GM did with the GTO. At least the Charger was'nt a copy of another dodge car, unlike the GTO resembling a Grand AM.

Third, using some other name (be it old or new) wouldn't be nearly as successful.

One other thing, why is it that people only compare the new Charger to this:

and not this:

I dont care how many units its sold the fact of the matter is that it HAS tarnished the charger name when those idiots should have just called it the Magnum.

Because a large car with RWD, powerful V8's and aggressive styling isn't at all what the original Charger was, right?

the charger name is not tarnished. the charger is as awesome as ever now! just cos it has 2 extra doors people want to cry about it.

Egads, I think DG has something there!

And yeah, I like the Chargers (if only because thanks to it, police cars can actually look cool).

I'll agree with DG on saying that making the two-door charger wouldn't be a good idea, considering Chrysler does need a sedan to compete but I think most people's point is that it shouldn't have been a sedan in the first place, and the Charger should have been the two-door muscle car coupe.

And if Chrysler is smart, they'll offer the AWD option for the R/T and SRT8's as well.

The Charger has actually had great appeal for enthusiasts as well as families. (OK and Cops too!) We've seen some awesome Chargers in shows. And you all have seen our charger, affectionately known as the booger. Personally my pref is something smaller and sassier...hence the Camaro! Going shopping this weekend!

The first "GTO" was only a trim level on a family sedan.

So that you might understand what I'm talking about:

First generation Grand Prix:

Here's a first generation GTO:

Looks like a normal car, except it has a big engine stuffed into it. Sort of like the final generation of the GTO.

Yeah, I get why they make sedans but then don't call it a Charger.
