Your funny. LOL,,,,,,,,,,,, NOT!

On a more serious (and less juvenile) note I will say that just about every question that SHOULD be asked has been asked, answered and rehashed numerous times. I wont fault those whose skip over a LOOONNNGGG thread to the end and in haste post a question that has been asked and answered ten times before, because I am guilty of the same thing. Nothing makes one feeler lower than asking a question on a thread only to have another post those demeaning words,,, " READ THE THREAD!" Its self induced embarrassment but embarrassing none the less. I am all for shutting this one down. Its a dead horse.

Perhaps someone should make a condensed post that gives all information that answers all questions and then use that as the last post and then lock the thread?

Yes!

You should continue hard accelerations until your engine falls apart or until you sell the car whichever comes first.

Ok, my wife just picked up her new Camaro and this thread caught my eye...

Having installed big brakes and tracked a few cars over the years, I question this. I am ok with the factory method of being easy on the brakes, but properly "bedding" your brembos while "breaking" in the engine seems like a good combination that can only benefit you and your car.

Of course, I am not 100% convinced I should be telling my wife to do either. :p

Thanks for the great info. Now I have to make sure the cars I'm looking at on the lot have minimal mileage. The one I'm most interested in is the one I test drove, so I know it's getting some miles on it.

Hey Darin, lets talk ring gaps

What are you doing these days for ring gaps? .004 per inch of bore on a NA engine? .005 per inch for a blown engine? Also what are you doing, same ring gaps for top and second ring? bigger top ring? bigger second ring gap?

There are sooooo many theory's out there from different manufacturers, different engine builders I would like to hear your opinion on this for the day I decide to machine up a 418in engine for my Camaro and run 9-10 pounds of boost from my Procharger.

Thanks bud. Plus I figured you were getting tired of answering oil questions

I must have a lot of faith in GM and the motors, since I got mine I've thrashed it. Just seems to get better and better, changed the oil again today at 3000 miles after changing it the first time at 500

Neither time was there any silvery stuff or anything I could see but clean looking oil. Imma gonna continue the beatings and see what the oil looks like after the change oil appears in the dash.

Oh yeah after I changed my oil today I felt another 50 HP

all of these seem to be for the v8s, what about the v-6? sorry i read thru like 8 pages, my eyes hurt. i have a manual too, but already have 1500miles.

ive always been told to baby for the first couple thousand. not only did the guy who sold it to me say that, but his boss, and their friend told me to baby it for the first couple thousand, and not to use cruise control : (
i did baby it to a point, but i would still accelerate to 10 over the speedlimit always. i wouldnt call them hard accelerations, but deffinatly not limp!

It doesn't matter if it's a little 2 stroke or a W-16, this break-in applies to all engines of every type.
