I'm in the same boat. I'm so glad that Camaro5 is not plagued by this sort of garbage. We might have a few overly zealous muscle car enthusiasts here, but the general open-mindedness of our members has proven an asset in the vast majority of posts. Even in our near-unmentionable politics section, dissent was only laced with hostility and ignorance. The vast majority of posts were mature and usually intelligent. When I make the mistake of visiting other forums, the first post always yells "first!" with no other content worth mention. Following posts are often an indecipherable mess of misplaced letters, capital letters, numbers where letters should be, and missing if not misplaced punctuation. If you can speak in a language, I also expect you to write in it. If you can do neither, please avoid communicating until you can.

People often take an interest in their post count. The post count is a good measure of participation in the site, but it is not a good sign of quality. You're more likely to have more good posts when you have more posts overall, but a person with more posts could just be a 13-year-old punk who has nothing better to do between classes sarcastically annihilate an otherwise average conversation with whatever garbage he or she can vomit through a keyboard. It is this sort of behavior that inflates post counts. Rather than reading the content of the posts before them, they read the original post and respond with a smilie.

This is where fanatical posts come into play. It is a matter of social behavior. It starts with the support of smilies, but people build a fervor over what they interpret to be widespread support for the original post. Posts escalate until someone finally gets banned for becoming too offensive or aggressive. People who disagree with the fanatics leave the site over time, and the site becomes homogenous. The first post might talk about how ricers suck. All following homogenous posts will show their spelling-impaired support. The one guy that disagrees will be called a troll and will either leave or get kicked off the site.

Fanatics are annoying, but there's nothing we can do about them. The best remedy is to consider the consequences of your post when you post it. Try to be logical, balanced, and see things from the other side. If you don't make the attempt, what is to stop the spelling-impaired moron from acting the same way? This applies to everyone.

You guys are so much smarter than me.

What you just said may be the reason that despite our 'most users on at one time' record happened when we had a lot less members.

j/k. I don't believe anyone that's responded in this thread is considered a fanboy, based on how I described them in my op.
Not yet anyway. lol

I'm one of the spelling impaired morons your talking about that can't write in the english language, and I can tell it has nothing to do with how smart you are.You make it sound as if you don't put a sentence down correctly you can't function. It's a rather elitist why a thinking as far as I'm concerned. Their have been many people in history that couldn't even read let along write that went on to do great things. I've had my own business for twenty years that is very successful. I employ many people and contribute to my community and never had a problem because I might not be the best speller or always know how to construct a sentence. Don't think your better then everyone else because you know spelling and sentence structure. It takes a lot more than that to make it in the real world.

Didn't mean to single you out , but I get tired of seeing people get picked on for this when their just trying to communicate the best way the know how.

I guess I'll have to get my office manager to prove read all of my post from now on to make you happy.

I'm not your office manager but I took initiative.

But Coolman, I think he was talking about the ones who seem to go out of there way to type in 'text' methods. Not making an attack.
