A child is not an animal. Different altogether. Just because for some people, their pet IS their child, doesn't make it human. A dog bites someone, they put it down don't they? Rats, roaches, squirrels, gophers, possums, ect. Lets only care about the cute and domesticated animals.... Cows are not cute, therefor we eat them. To continue, you can PM me. |

Give me a break...This cat belongs to someone, it's not a wild animal. You think that because the cat is an "outside cat", the owner is not responsible for it? If your dog bites your neighbor on their property is your excuse going to be "it's an outside dog". |

We have a garage... we have an outside cat.... who has a door into our garage... Cat trumps car (we had him for 7 years)... he slept on the hood of my Jeep most of the time, then I got Ruby... he got up there a couple of times, didn't even scratch the paint once! But, I was still freaking out... so, we covered the car with sheets for a few nights.. guess what? Cat doesn't get up there now. He apparently tried a few times with the sheets on (they were crumpled & messed up), but I guess he didn't like how they slid around or wasn't as cool to his body when he layed on them, not sure, but it appears to have worked. Try it... see if it helps. Good luck.

The cayenne pepper thing sounds promising. Weird thing, though, I've seen my cat crawling all over our Camaro and he hasn't left a single mark. You absolutely sure it's the cats?

Dogs can be dangerous to people so they are not allowed to run around outside unrestrained. Cats do fit this criteria and cannot be compared.

Doh, does this post hit home for me. I left my '02 out of the garage last night, and this morning I had paw prints and two paint chips on my hood.
For a pristine 7 year old Camaro with only two other hood chips, this was a big deal for me. I'm not sure I can blame the chips on a cat, since I may have picked them up on the road, and it doesn't make a lot of sense for a cat to leave paint chips. But still. The chips were right where the paw prints were, hm. This is kind of a wake up call I think, since if I take delivery of the 2010 ABM I have on order, the '02 is going to have to become an outdoor car. Or I need to sell my house and buy a smaller one with a bigger garage. I don't like leaving any of these cars out of doors overnight. |

Holy smokes. I really didn't mean to start a fuss, y'all. Let me repeat what I said in the OP -
I WILL NOT HARM AN ANIMAL See, no need to argue about that, is there? Now, for all those who've offered legitimate suggestions, thank you. I'll be checking into all of them and hopefully one of them will work. ![]() The only things I'll say about the posts are that cows ARE cute (they have beautiful eyes, but yes, I do eat them, well, not the eyes lol) and, IMO, if all those people who have "outside cats" really cared for them they wouldn't let them roam freely. They can get hit by cars, attacked by dogs, torn to bits by other cats, poisoned by mean people, etc. Good pet owners wouldn't put their pets in danger like that.

5thGenCamaroChick and whom ever it may concern, to keep cats away from your car is fairly easy, pepper powder or sprays work (cayanne works best) Citrus peels works to but draws bugs. A citrus wax works really good. ALso a motion activated noise emitter works but the best along with the pepper around your car is to take some catnip and find a spot away from your car and put the catnip down. They'll forget all about your car. One last thing works too, granulated coyote urine. Good luck.

But then, I've always had acreage they could waltz about on. Cows are fun to have around. There are some near our house, and I find their midnight lowing to be kind of pleasant.

QUOTE] Yeah, you could see the print where the cat slid and the scratch is in with it. I would post pics but I already washed the prints off.

And before you go saying "cats don't count because..." you might want to actually look at what if any leash ordinances your area has. The one's we have, and more than a few others, don't specify a particular type of animal so you're just as liable for letting your animal roam uncontrolled, be it a dog, car, ferret, rabbit or whatever... I've also got to laugh at the completely ludicrous comparison between a domestic cat with an owner and wild animals like birds and squirrels. Quote:
