At 00:22 to 00:24, it appears as if they are stopped and then proceed and assume the oncoming headlights are driving normal until it's too late.
+1, I watched that video at least 10 times and it seems like they stopped. Even if they pulled a Hollywood stop, this would not have happened if the patrol cars were doing the speed limit end of story. The only thing the victim is guilty of is being in the wrong place at the wrong time...how any reasonable person can say otherwise is not being objective. jmo

I watch it in full screen mode and I have to say I can't really tell if they stopped or not. I will say I'm not taking sides. It really hits hard for me because I had a similar thing happen while I was driving when we were kids and one of my friends is screwed up for life. We were hit buy someone speeding and every time I see him I think their should have been something I could have done different. Everyone said at the time their was nothing I could have done, but I always think their was. So, don't bash me for trying to see both sides of it.

I'm not trying to bash, there are always two sides to a story (sometimes more) and I have a deep respect for law enforcement. For me this is a case that really focuses on an individual not neccesarily a police officer who made a serious mistake that cost lives and its difficult for me given what we have seen to find any fault with the victims. I apologize if any of my comments promted this post. It's a tragic situation that stirs a lot of emotion...maybe this one has run its course...jmo

I put the vid in full screen. If you look close the flashing part is in the middle of the light. In texas that is yellow not red, the left turn would have been red if the other traffic flashed yellow. The cop still f ed up and will have to live with that for the rest of his life.

Even if it was yellow, that means caution does it not? As in slow down a bit and look around.

No bashing. I certainly wasn't meaning to anyway.

Good catch. The article just said 'flashing signal'.

I don't know if its a current trend, or maybe its just the internet making it more apparent, but our police officers really need to be careful of things like this. The more people think that police cannot be trusted to carry out the law, the more they will take the law into their own hands. Now, I do not mean this as a slight to any of our good hearted officers of the law out there (my girlfriend's dad is a cop and one of the good ones). I'm merely observing what I conceive as a bit of a trend. I could be wrong

But I can almost guarantee, if enough people see videos like the one of the Oakland police shooting, or this one, popping up (almost looked like an execution to me), the next time a crowd witnesses an officer doing something they feel is wrong, it won't be pretty.

And what happened to "Keeping your vehicle under control at all times?" I guess this LEO felt it didn't apply to him. Because had he control of his vehicle, he would have been able to stop in plenty of time, even if the teens made an illegal turn.

I'm not bashing police officers in general, just this one. I have high respect for most. I know you can't make a conviction from just seeing this one video, but from the facts presented to me at this time (and I only have the video and article), this LEO was wrong....Dead wrong.

I have certainly learned a lot from this thread. I now realize just how dangerous speeding is and how the majority of the posts here all seem to agree just how dangerous it is to speed on our public roads. I have seen other threads here bragging about excessive speed and how some people fooled the officers, got their tickets fixed by knowing someone, or just got a warning. They probably didn’t learn anything by getting off so easy.
While I don’t know the facts in this case, it is painfully clear the majority here are convinced the police are at fault and more than willing to jump on the band wagon against the police after seeing a very short video. I pray for all involved in the accident and their families.
One last comment and I will shut up and get off of your forum. I have seen a few comments about people having friends that have joined the force and changed within three years. I believe any officer who reads just this one thread would change how they feel about law enforcement and how a lot of you feel about them as police. I know I have. Enjoy your camaros.
