Well the money spent also keeps scientist employed by NASA instead of some Chinese Conglomerate. It makes me feel hopeful that America still has big dreams (going to space). I think we'd be poorer in spirit if we only kept our head down and looked to the practical.

Put those guys to work on better research. A lot of people die every year due to lack of research on other projects. Cancer research, etc...........

Some stuff is fine, Huble, probes and such, but WE HAVE NO NEED TO GO BACK TO THE MOON.......

Probably not many... If your short sighted to the point of thinking that NASA is a big tax payer joke then that's your own problem, but not every advancement or discovery in human history is about ''saving lives''. This on its own is not a huge deal, but what this mean's for the future and making possible different types of colonizations.... that has yet to be seen. Point is that we don't know how it will effect the future but it has the potential to be very important.

I have no idea. Possibly quite a few. NASA projects gave us a lot of modern firefighting gear, aircraft safety devices, and a bunch of other stuff they were forced to develop for Apollo, the shuttle, etc. I could find a list for you.

On the other hand, their research also lead to those irritating grooves on the shoulder of highways in some states.

All those you named were for OUR use. And ALL were either readily available or a direct result of free enterprise. I sure could use a car, a phone, an air conditioner and computer, but somehow I'm missing the part where moon rocks and moon water are helpful to us. We got bigger problems right now.

Those would have been developed anyway. And by PRIVATE companies.
