Two quotes from the article:

“The General has approved a replacement for the Chevy Camaro,”
“the Chevy Camaro replacement we’re discussing here might not be exactly what you would expect.”

To me, a replacement means the Camaro is being replaced by something else to fill the void.
Hopefully, they learned their lesson with the over priced Chevy SS and the should know full well that a rear wheel drive V8 with four doors can fail miserably no matter what it replaces if not done right.
All wheel drive tech is definitely the way to go if they are listening.
This article is encouraging, but has enough gray area to warrant considerable amount of caution before getting your hopes up.

That production line in Lansing doesn't make crossovers, so it'd require some extensive retooling I'd imagine. I think Occam's razor applies here and a passenger car continuing on the outgoing CT4 assembly line makes the most sense.

Hello 7th Gen Camaro Crossover Hybrid Electric SUV!!

What an insult to the Camaro name and a joke....no way they're putting the LS6 in it. It's also not going to be a RWD front engine V8 coupe like we've known it to be and/or want, unfortunately.

Of course, I'm relying on reverse karma here to work it's magic, but I won't get my hopes up too soon, yet.

That's not how automotive assembly lines work though. CT5, CT4, and Camaro all ran down the same line. Before that the CTS and ATS in coupe, sedan, and wagon (CTS only) forms. Also the SRX crossover, once upon a time.

I think you're right, that they won't do a crossover, but if they did do one based on Alpha 2 (Camaro or not) it would definitely be built there. Alpha 2 is a flexible RWD/AWD platform with a variety of powertrains. Adding a minor ride height lift and a wagon-ish body wouldn't be very hard.

If it's going to be built alongside the next ct5 then it's probably a good idea to stay up to date on that progress also

Apparently executives saw a very short video of a “bumble bee” and then a “roaring v8” at the end of the clip in Vegas.

The Lansing Grand River Assembly plant only assembles passenger cars though. No CUVs/SUVs.

I don't think it's any coincidence that the Camaro is getting revived when the CT4 goes away. They'll be utilizing the same assembly line.

Never really know. The subaru crosstrek was just an impreza with a lift kit.
Throw a wagon rear and a lift on a ct5 and it will be a crossover.
