However, the act of installing Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware is in direct violation of the software's EULA, which, as I stated, may have some bearing in a court of law. |

My brother, however, has a fully operable and licensed version of OS X on his PC for development work. In fact, the single machine can boot Windows 7, Fedora Core, or OS X. - X

LMAO.
Its a dual processor server board, running two quad core Xeon processors, 16 gig of fully error checked RAM, a GeForce 9800 GTX, and a striped raid using 10K RPM drives. It books, lets put it that way. It can outclock a Dell Poweredge 2950, which is a 10,000 dollar server. - X

Even if you buy OS X and use an EFI loader to install from the real, purchased, vanilla OS X disc, it's still illegal if it's not on Apple hardware. Of course, the exception for this is if your brother works for Intel or something.

i own a mac and a pc, why pay more for a mac when you can get a more powerful pc for a lot cheaper? especially now that windows 7 is out and i love it more than leopard.

The argument for Macs is that they're actually not "overpriced" or "more expensive," you just get more. Apple doesn't make a low-end Mac laptop or even a low-end Mac desktop (look at it anyway you want, not even the Mac Mini is low end). With a Mac, you get stuff that most PC manufacturers don't include at base price and more. For example, I can't think of a better notebook than the MacBook Pro. It's super thin, durable (find a PC manufacturer that has unibody enclosures), light, has a long-lasting battery, has an super bright LED backlit display, has a backlit keyboard, has a multitouch trackpad. There is simply no PC notebook that compares, and if you spec one out as close as you can to a MacBook Pro, it'll still be lacking features, and it'll be in the same price range (slightly less, the same, or slightly more expensive, depending on the brand). But yes, the argument for Windows PCs is typically made for desktop PCs because you can build a super powerful one for about as much as an iMac, and it's highly upgradable and all that jazz. This would be why I have a MacBook Pro and a custom built desktop. My desktop is way faster, but that'd be comparing notebooks to desktops, and those have completely separate functions. That's not to mention that my desktop has a solid state drive in it and without one in my notebook, my notebook will never win a benchmark against it (not that it could in the first place - Santa Rosa vs. Kentsfield is no contest), but I'll be putting one in there once my warranty expires next year.
