![]() Vee -- I would need to see "the study" before I believe anything. I could be the researcher was out looking for an outcome---and made it happen. Not too difficult to fudge research -- we do it all the time when we write a research paper to prove a point (or disprove it). With that said -- it wasn't the research I had a problem with (I realized its uselessness immediately - and promptly ignored it)...I took issue with the tone and insinuations the greasy little author injected into his piece. He was probably overjoyed to finally have some sort of 'justification' for buying his Honda -- "well, even if it is overpriced, ugly, boring, and foreign -- at least it proves I'm smart!!" (The irony kills me....). And you contribute to it, Vee, I'm sorry to say...you're insinuating that because magazines say it, "educated" people take them at their word instead of comparing it for themselves. If you believe that's okay, and acceptable...I...well, I can't say anything nice, lets leave it at that.... And finally...I think you misunderstand our "loyalties to Domestics", Vee. I agree that these companies don't care about us individually....but I can guarantee they share the same hopes, and goals for AMERICA that we do. Why? Because they are headquartered here, they pay taxes here, they employ here, and they're invested here. Proof? They made tanks, armor, and ammo, etc for WWII -- They attempted to jump-start the economy after 9/11 with the "Keep America rolling" campaign, in addition to a substantial 9/11 relief contribution in $$ and vehicles. Currency-based? Yes...AMERICAN currency.:flag2: Here's the thing, though...every dollar spent on a domestic vehicle is a dollar put back into this great nation (and Canada ). In terms of employees, suppliers, research, development, innovation, invention...and even that hot-dog guy down the street from the RenCen. On the flip side...every dollar spent on a foreign vehicle...5% of it...maybe...might go to the guy building the tundra....but the rest goes to Japan. Ditto for Audi, ditto for Hyundai, ditto for Fiat, etc.I can't speak for anyone besides myself...but I'm not loyal to a company (outside of being enfatuated with their vehicle designs and tech)...I'm loyal to my country (and Canada): and choosing to buy vehicles made by GM, and Ford (and some of Chrysler), is one of many ways I can put my $$ where my mouth is. |

I really just joined to respond due to the fact of people chiming in to the original article. Since I don't have a camaro, I mostly will just continue to read.

Agreed. And this will drive the price of the domestics up and maybe I will then be buying foreign. Economics at play.

That's what I figured. Enjoy your stay. Another question for you. Are you the writer of the article, have ties to the article in someway. Or did you just read the article...see the responses and join here? Anyway I think you will enjoy this forum and see how passionate we are about GM all around.

Your logic in the above post doesn't make sense. Sounds to me like you will justify buying foreign over domestic regardless of the situation. I guess you are more educated if you buy the less expensive car also... I'm not buying it... You wouldn't be here just to drive up hits on that yahoo article would you...

It doesn't matter if I think it is okay or not. Makes me no difference what they do. Your point is valid about the research.....I don't know how scientific it is, but I put as much faith into the article as I do just about any article I read on the yahoo home page. I was just saying that it did make sense to me and I do think that the majority of "educated" consumers buy like this. In a perfect world, with all things being equal, I wish that everyone bought domestic. It would benefit us all greatly. |

After several posts trying to explain what the hell I am saying, and people still can't make the connection, then so be it. Some people just spend their lives looking for reasons to be offended. It was a study. It made some sense. Yes, I am hired by yahoo. They commissioned me to come in here, tap into the members of this site and find out more ways that they could offend you. I hate being busted out like this, but there is no way that I could fool you. I am going to report back to Mr. Yahoo on the total failure of my mission. Hopefully, on my next mission, I'll get the chrysler detail because those SOB's will buy anything. |

My problem is that when the tables turn against the foreign cars, you came up with an flawed reason for not buying a domestic which was based on the idea, also flawed, that foreign cars had better reliability for the last 15 years... That is the crux of my problem with your post. Sorry my comment about driving up hit counts up set you. Tell Mr. Yahoo I say hello.

I'm not even going to bother creating a yahoo account for this one...Stupid Bentley and Rolls talk makes me think of.. "Would you pass me the grey poupon??" Whatever happened to that commercial anyways, it sure as hell worked....
Anyways, this pollster was probably out to prove a point so the results are skewed. I wouldn't put much cred into a poorly written article meant to offend a great American car company..
