Fresh freakin meat

i went into a chevy lot today, and as usual got tackled by salesmen..... (take in mind im 15, but look bout 16 to some people). i told them i was looking at a Camaro. I said a 2010/2011 (whatever they got) v6 Ls (base model). (about 23k right? well MSRP anyways...and you always pay below MSRP rite?) well the funny thing is....guess what they told me..?

26k "thats gana run you about 26,000 or more dude"

yup fresh meat alright....
no mods on that 1 cept for rims either....but thats like 900bucks (wasnt on the lot, said they could order it)

i was just browsing, not looking to buy rite now, just curious. he MADE me take his card and told me to come back when im ready lol wow.... great experience

so was he for real? a new camaro for 3-4k over the website price? or just a 16 year old thats got no experience? plus im taking my parents when i go buy mine for real lol

How much is tax and title in your state?

I suppose 26k is a good number to shoot for. My 2LT after everything was about 30k and I got the GMS discount, USAA $750 discount, and $500 off for not taking the GM buy back guarantee.

A good salesman shouldn't judge a book by their cover though.

There's some dealers on here that ship to your front door. BeckyD@RodgersChevrolet, LittleBankRobber, EricSS, and last but not least Camaroscotty. You could ask them for a total as well as any discounts you may qualify for. Usually Camaroscotty posts the current incentives in the forums.

But if you haven't done this yet, check to see if your dealer was in one of these threads.

The price gouging dealer, or the MSRP and below dealers.

Dude, the bottom line is that a base LS is not 26k - they're trying to rip you off unless they quoted you the final, grab-the-keys, shove-them-into-the-ignition and GTFO price after the fees and taxes. Which I doubt. Either buy from a dealer on the forum, go to another dealer, or cough up $200.00 or so on a broker.

Go to a few other dealers until you find someone who will treat you like a buyer and not a target. The biggest mistake sales people make is when they make assumptions about someone they don't know based on how they look or dress. Good luck.

LOL @ this thread. Everyone jumping on the dealer he talked to. He wants a "base" LS, which is $23K, but he already mentioned he wanted $900 in rims on top of that. Is it manual or auto? If it's auto, there's another grand. Throw tax and title in there and guess what, $26K or more.

I say props to this dealer, cuz' if some kid came on to my lot asking about a Camaro I would tell him come see me when you got your parents with you and wouldn't even waste my time until then.

I'm sorry, but that struck me funny...15 year olds and 16 year olds all look the same age to me. Heck even 17 and 18 year olds..I guess you know you're getting old when all young kids look the same age. :(

well maybe what they had were 1LT or 2LT with dealer installed options.........and not LS. Most salesmen will give you a business card before you leave whether you bought one or not. So you weren't ready and he asked you to call him when you are ready, nothing wrong with that, he wants your business.

yeah, how can you tell a 15 from a 16 year old, seriously?

The 16 year old will make it very obvious he(or she) is 16..they wont stop talking about it.
