Bored @ work...waiting for Hurricane Alex

I hate the waiting part before getting hit by a hurricane. I work for an electricity company and we pretty much have to wait until this thing hits us in order to get power back up. No much we can do but sit around and wait. Anyone else dealing with the hurricane?

yes, my ex wife is in corpus, i was hoping it would go that way but no luck.

Not this one thankfully! But I've been through the waiting game many times. Lots of prep work for home owners and businesses. I wish ya'll the best of luck!

Last thing we need over here is a hurricane to hit. Might be scraping 10W-30 off the walls. :(

You guys have been hit too many times. Alex doesn't seem to be that bad since its hitting North Mexico. We did have 2 tornados touch down earlier in Brownsville, which is about 60 miles east of us. We got hit by Hurricane Dolly 2 years ago. That was a Cat 2, Alex is projected to be a strong Cat 1 or possibly a Cat 2. We are feeling the outer bands right now, but its mainly rain with some wind. Nothing too bad though.

I did the waiting game for 25 years as a FF/Paramedic...Thanks for the service you guys provide... and if you hate the waiting... stay out of the fire service... 95% boredom surrounded by 5% sheer terror...

I also understand the line of work you're in causes you to be away from family when they need/want you around the most... Hope everything goes good for you guys up there...

Just got our first "wave" from the Hurricane.......about 15 minutes of hard rain and a small bit of wind,,,,,,,,,,,slight rain now and I am well away from deep south Texas (in Cuero near Victoria) Well we do need the rain just not the flooding rains,,,,,,,,,,,,, Stay safe!
