WHO IS GMPP????

I was told a few years back, when dealing with Saturn Sky Parts, that GMPP is NOT a division of GM. It is a separate company, and that even their tune can void certain parts of your factory warrantee.

Does anyone have PERSONAL EXPERIANCE, or know for a fact what is true??

Does anyone here work for GMPP??

Thanks in Advance!

General Motors Performance Parts.
As far as I know they are a subsidiary of GM...

But I don't have any personal experience with them.

Thanks Dragon Eye,

I knew it was General Motors Performance Parts. I really want to find out the connection to General Motors.

Here's a list of their partners, if that helps.

From wiki:

"GM Performance Division is a division within General Motors (GM) that is responsible for developing performance vehicles for the various brands of GM. Its creations include the Super Sport vehicles from Chevrolet, the V-series from Cadillac, the GXP series from Pontiac, and the Red Line series from Saturn. GM Performance Division also develops race vehicles, as well as parts sold through dealer networks (GM Performance Parts or GMPP). The GM Performance Division was established in 2001[1] and is based in Warren, Michigan"

Thanks Man,

I just do not 100% trust WIKIPEDIA, I have seen so much wrong info on their. I believe part of that is correct, I just think the "within General Motors" is wrong. I remember calling them about three years ago, and I think I remember them saying they are a separate company that works WITH GM not within GM.

Does anyone know for sure? Is there any vendors, Chevy Dealers, or GMPP people on here that know for sure?

I have a GMPP recalibration on my Sky Redline. It DOES NOT void the warranty. This is because GM has not only developed the Cal., but also tested it.

Any parts you can buy through GMPP or GM Service Parts (i.e. wheels and accessories) have been designed to meet GM specifications and tested to meet GM requirements.

For example, wheels you can buy from GM have been through all the rough road and pot holes that a standard wheel would.

That is the info I was looking for. When I called GMPP when that first tune came out, they said any change to the factory set-up will change the warrantee, but it had JUST come out.

So it looks like they are connected by all signs.

Thanks All!!

...and is now defunct. Disbanded last year...and Heinracy (who last ran GMPD) later surfaced in the Hennessey corner...

GM Performance DIVISION is no more...

GM Performance PARTS continues...develops parts for GM branding...sells through Franchised GM Dealers, Aftermarket, and (through their "Marine/Industrial" distribution channel) through entities otherwise NOT directly or usually affiliated with "GM Parts"...

Wiki needs an update...

However, the warranty is through the Parts Department, NOT Service or, in the case of parts added to your new GM vehicle, the GM New Vehicle Warranty...

GM Performance Parts is not GM Performance Division. While GM Performance Division was "disbanded" but I hear that they still are alive and well ()

With all the re orgs it's hard to keep track of the players and the musical chairs.

GM Performance division has been resopnsible for many performance applications including the Saturn and Ecotech parts. THey also developed the CTS-V and the Camaro SS.

Performance Parts sells a ton of crate engines as well as components.
