Thumbs up

it is not a bad car at all i was considering the previous generation which came in coupe or sedan flavors. I settled for the Monte Carlo which shares the same floorpan and most of the drivetrains.

If you want a fast car, go with the GTP. they can be made quick with little if any work.

We used to own a 00 Daytona Pace car edition one & I loved it but we needed a truck. went to look at one this weekend but it was gone by the time we got up there. So we got the Buick Regal with the Supercharged V6.

buy a beater to last you over. IMO its not worth putting money down on a good car that will lose resale/trade-in value when it comes time to get a Great car.

That's a really nice Grand Prix GTP. They're pretty nice cars, and I've always loved the GTP's. The only thing that stopped me from getting what you are looking into was back when the current gen Grand Prix came out they didn't offer it in a 2dr coupe like the previous gen GP's...

But yeah. There's a pretty decent amount of aftermarket potential for the 3800 Series S/C engine, from smaller pulley's, bigger S/C's... and it's pretty affordable...

But are you just planning on owning it until the Camaro comes out? If you plan on getting the Camaro within a year from now, if you trade it in for the Camaro, unless you privately sell it chances are you're going to loose a lot of money on that car. But I also don't know what they are asking for that car. But I'd suggest getting something cheaper to hold you over if you're planning on getting the Camaro sometime after it launches...

The V8 powered Grand Prix were GXP cars they had a front fender vent that reminded me of the ones on the CTS sedan. that and larger wheels/tires and they usually are loaded, leather, moonroof etc. and it was the same 5.3 LS4 that was in the monte and impala ss cars.
