Auto Repair in Chicago, worst in country?

The worst in the country!

Quote:
You’d better hope your car doesn’t break down in Chicago. According to a unique report by AutoMD, an online auto repair resource, the Windy City ranks as the worst city for fairness and consistency when it comes to auto repair quotes.

I LOVE GM vehicles, and particularly Chevy's, but would buy any GM vehicle if I had the $$...Hopefully, one day, soon enough, a 5th Gen CAMARO! Dave_O

I just make sure I go to the same mechanic and build a relationship with the guy. That pretty much stops me from getting ripped off.

The worst rip off I ever almost had was in Iowa though. My rear drum brake seized and I had to have it towed. This one no name mechanic wanted to charge almost $900 to replace the whole drum brake assembly for both drums. I called around town and found out that even the local dealer only charged $600 for the same job. So found the cheapest offer and ended up taking it to Meineke and had the same job performed for $450... Moral of the story is, ask around if you feel you're getting ripped off. You probably are.

Same here, we also go to the same mechanic, my dad knows the guy. And the same with the repair shop!
