2005 Mustang GT vs. 2008 Dodge Charger R/T
Which one do you think would win if they were to race?

What kind of race? 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc? Either way, the race would be close but the Mustang will have the slight edge.

2008 Dodge Charger has 340-350hp depending upon the model, and it could only be had with an automatic transmission so manual transmission performance of the car is obviously a non issue. Performance was decent enough for the class, but it wasn't even close to what any 2005 or newer Mustang GT can muster.

Kinda depends, a 2008 CHarger R/T, especially with Road and Track package is capable of low 14s, even high 13s, same as an auto 05-09 GT, should be a drivers race.

Mustang, easily. Has the weight advantage by a wide margin, and the Charger's extra HP doesn't really make up for it.
Mustang GT has an avg. 1/4 of 5.2, the Charger's is 5.6. That is for the automatics of course. I don't recall if they offer stick in the RT for 2008. I want to say the Challenger in 2009 was the first 5.7 Hemi to get a stick attached to it. You'd need a stick 5.7 if you want to have a shot at matching the GT, an SRT-8 to beat it. |
