Talking Perspective: what you do like about your current car?

In the what do you NOT like about your current car thread I thought i would start a what do you LIKE about your current car.

2004 Monte Carlo LS
I like that the ignition key is in the dash between the steering column and the radio controls.
I like that you can still operate your power windows and radio and other items that require having key turned to on even when the key is off and when you remove the key itself.
I like that there is a small LCD 'message center' in the bottom of the 'tach' that tells you things like 'open door', 'open trunk', 'low fuel', etc, it keeps the 'idiot lights' down to a minimum.
I like that my radio (depending on the radio station mind you) that tells you either the stations call letters and or name and name of song and artist while a song is playing and when you play certain CD or burned CDs it shows the artist and or title if it was on the disc.
I like that my engine support bracket is aluminum instead of steel (keeps my car's weight down to 3200 pounds ).
I like that my car has 4 wheel discs much easier (sometimes anyway ) to work on or replace.
I like the fact that the doors lock when you put it into drive and unlock when you put it in park.
and even though I wish I could disable it sometimes I DO like that the headlights turn on automatically at dusk or night and I like that i have a 'old school' pull out switch (and rotate to turn on the interior lights as well) to turn on the headlights on the dash and not having it being part of the turn signal stalk like 95-100% of the cars today .

2002 Z28

I don't like it isn't a 2012 Z28 with an TR6060, LSA with a pulley, catback, tune, and CAI, and have 550 RWHP.

Things that I like about it...
  • The red lit guages (signature Pontiac from '97).
  • The interior roominess (sp?).
  • The engine note (suprisingly nice for an I4 '97 Sunfire IMO)
That's about it.

The interior
The Blaupunkt 6 cd changer/sound system
Steering wheel controls for the radio/cd
The LS2 engine

What I don't like:

Seats move very slowly
No button to lock/unlock doors
Small trunk space
Unstellar MPG.

Interesting...

I like a lot about my 2005 Monaro VXR. I like the looks, the size (which I also hate..), the stance - the 6.0 LS2 with aftermarket exhaust and even the ride which can seemingly go from big comfy cruiser to backroad thrasher without me even asking... it's a wonderful machine when I think of it's good points.

Lexus RX350-
1) Smooth and comfortable ride
2) Goes like sports sedan (0-60 in 6.7)
3) Well made interior
4) Quiet at highway speeds
5) Nice deep engine note when you floor it

What I dont like-
1) No third row seat, it could easily fit in the ginormous trunk.

For those unaware, the Monaro VXR is what we call the most recent Pontiac GTOs here. I think the main difference is the face on the front? That and your steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car...

Anyway, my "fake GTO" can blow the doors off most people I run across. Stock.

I hate that.

I rented a Ford Fusion. It's the same car as my Mazda6 right?
Wrong.
In the parking garage, went to turn on my lights; wipers came on. Couldn't find the dayum switch. Felt around blindly along the bottom of the drivers side of the dash until I found it.

Went to put it in reverse. Did they use the Jaguar S-type J-pattern or the Mazda6's gated manumatic? Nope. They used a clunky leftover 2000 Taurus shifter.
It has P RNDL. L does not hold it in 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd. I guess Ford is saying, "You are too stupid to know what gear you want. Just shut up. 'D' is the only forward gear you understand."

What I like about my car:

Handling. The Mazda6 simply outhandles everything in it's class. Without question, the Mazda6 is the handling champ in this segment. It's just better balanced and the 225/40R18s generate tons of grip. At-the-limit handling is nearly neutral. The G6 and Accord were okay but did not stand out like the Mazda6. The Altima V6 was powerful but sloppy. The Camry and Sonata were solid built cars but understeer only, 'plow ahead' affairs in the corners. The Kia Optima was the softest and worst.

Styling. Without the tacky chrome 'milk mustache' the Mazda6 s looks a bit like a cross between an RX8 and an Acura TL

Engine. Okay I got a Mazda tuned Ford Duratec. 20 more hp than the Ford variant. 20 less than the Jaguar variant. Runs on cheap 87 octane (unlike the Jag) and averages 23 mpg. Solid 30mpg on the freeway with cruise set at 3 mph above speed limit. (yes, this is speeding but in my experience cops are usually willing to wait another minute or two for a 'bigger fish)
It's a little down on power compared to the 3.5 liter competitors but I don't pay thier fuel economy penalty.

Six speed Toyota transmission. Yep, same one as the Fusion I was just bitching about. Mazda lets you choose which gear you want and it responds to inputs faster than our Chrysler Auto-Stick.

Hatch. Bigger opening than a trunk. Gives my car nearly SUV size cargo area without being a dumpy @$$ SUV. Boo Mazda for discontinuing the Hatchback in 2009.

What I don't like? The name is a little goofy. Mazda Mazda6. It's in good company I suppose. The Enzo's full name is the Ferarri Enzo Ferarri.

Off idle torque is lacking. Oh well. They say that about the ZZ302 also.
