Water Pipes

Today has been one of the worst. Never had this happen, but i live around Athens, GA and this morning one of my pipes busted in my attic, (It was like 12 degrees with a wind chill of minus 1) ceiling feel in, not good. Fixed that pipe, then had another bust, fixed that one then it busted in a different place, this was an on going process.... Anyways this really sucked and still dont have water. And i know alot of you live where its cold all the time but this is alittle unusual here. Just felt like venting to you guys!!!!!! Have a good one........

You need to insulate.

attics are made to vent so its not a good place for pipes in the first place.
but insulate to piss out of em. Heat tape is good also. An electric blanket for the pipes.

Though the big problem is just that its an attic, crawl spaces under a house don't seem any better but they are sealed and keep a better constant temp.
Which Im guessing you don't have crawl spaces down there? why they put the pipes in the attic?

Better then cement, next door theirs are like that, pipes were layed out then burried in cement, sure stops burst but hell fixing cloggs.

Though for really cold days we have vent holes in the heating ducts that can be opened so some of the heat is blown under the house but its not an issue unless its constantly below 0.

Yeah found out today that pipes in the ceiling arent code in georgia , so the inspector must have had been paid off or something. I am gonna get on this in the morning to see if anything can actually be done. Finally got water back on but after several fixes in the pipes and thats not good. Took a shower thats good.

Home owners can do their own work in most places with no inspection "needed" but there is always an inspection required before a sale with fill disclosure, which means they gotta tell ya, if they don't, you can sue em later for holding it back.

How weird I had a pvc pipe break today over my Garage up in the attic.
Caused a Big Mess and now im going to have to get the ceiling/sheet rock fixed where it Screwed it all to hell.
What a rude awakening this morning to water running down the garage door.

im just glad it broken when the car was out.

I got a sprinkler system in my house for incase a fire thats why I got pipes in my attic.
I fixed the pipe and wrapped it with Heat tape from Lowes.
I also installed 3 heatlamps on thermos stats up in the attic so the pipe wont break again.

It was 16 here this morning and 5degrees the morning before last Yeah in TEXAS WTF.

Sorry to hear about your problem I feel the pain .

Thats the way our house is. Pipes are all nice and toasty warm down in the slab. Only place I have to worry about is the outside faucets and a couple styrofoam covers takes care of that...
