Can you say 'Aveo RS'

At Detroit, Chevy will show a spunky Aveo RS concept that will be powered by a turbocharged Ecotec four-cylinder engine, which made me chuckle because it would indicate that Ford wasn’t able to trademark its RS performance brand in the U.S. because of Chevrolet’s longstanding use of the suffix.

I wouldn't laugh. It sounds like good competition for the Fiesta.

I'm not knocking the Concept of a fast Aveo but adding the RS moniker instead of S(Sport) seems like watering down the RS moniker. Remember how comman the SS moniker became HHR SS, Coblat SS and Malibu SS none of which had V8s.

Maybe the Camaro has rised my view of RS.

The SS was never meant to specify a V8. It represented a supreme performer in a given class. Chrysler used SRT, so Chevrolet uses SS to directly compete with SRT products, GT products, Si products, and any other performance moniker out there.

The HHR SS and Cobalt SS were both very worthy cars. Cobalt SS even set a record at the Nurburgring. HHR SS has developed its own kinda cult following, a lot of people love them.

Anyways, RS was always more of an appearance package while SS was performance.

So what did Chrysler mean for the R/T to specify? I could of swore they were the highest trim levels of the Challengers and Chargers back in the day.

Well just think about what you get with the Camaro RS package.

Bigger wheels
Spoiler
Body Color roof ditch moldings
Darker Tail Lamps
Halo Headlamps with HIDs

Mostly appearance...........great appearance mind you, but mostly looks

What you don't get:

Brembo brakes
SS suspension
any extra HP

So a Rally Sport Package on an Aveo, if well done, should be a nice touch.
