It's worked for them so far. Sure they tarnished a classic nameplate, but whether it be GM, Chrysler or Ford.... everything they do is about selling cars.

If GM, Ford, and Chrysler aren't ticking off the faithful every now and again they aren't doing their job.

If they really wanted to make some money at Dodge the Charger should look like a 69 charger not a 4 door that looks nothing like it's name sake.

That's what the Challenger is for. They need a sedan to appeal to more people. Not standing up for anyone ruining the charger, but I know why they did it.

Just because they devote all their effort towards it, doesn't mean they are any good at it

I'm getting sick of the "4 door charger = horrible, stupid, awful, disgrace to the name" comments (generally speaking, not just this thread). Three things, first, the car sells much more as a sedan than it ever would as a large coupe. Second, there is a 2 door Charger known as the Challenger. Third, using some other name (be it old or new) wouldn't be nearly as successful.

One other thing, why is it that people only compare the new Charger to this:

and not this:

OMG, I forgot what a huge POS that was. Maybe using the Charger name is a bad idea for another reason.
